I'm sure they'll probably use the same key they're using now to set Explorer.exe as the default shell for Windows. You can change this now, if you want to set up a web kiosk, for example.
To be fair, being hackish is a requirement of being cross-browser. At least you don't have to write hackish code yourself when using jQuery, everything is more likely to "just work" with a few exceptions.
You really should be viewing it in widescreen view. Go to the View tab, and under Reading Pane, choose Right instead of bottom. Don't know why it isn't the default now. Then you have the full screen height or close to it both for your message list AND your message contents.
Not sure I agree with that. Considering that cold is merely the absence of heat, and there's no matter to be in motion, you could easily say that it's cold. Maybe not in a heat-sapping way, but there should probably be another word for that.
Well - you can buy Apple's "Magic Trackpad" for $70 to get multi-touch in Windows. Still, are games even adopting multi-touch in any significant way? $70 vs. a $1000 premium on a laptop for a few games that might put a picture on that little screen seems silly even for a gamer.
What's going to convince a game developer to spend significant resources to develop a second-screen interface for the limited number of people who buy this laptop? It's doomed to live in the same world as Aureal A3D or other hardware sound accelerators, non-HID joysticks, or any other technology that never had a big enough market to be worth developing for.
They could have spoofed a vendor's domain (didn't read the article). How could their mail server detect that unless there are some very strict SPF in place for that domain?
Depends on the cost of living where you are, but I generally agree. The "idiot tax" is reasonable, but ONLY if this is an opt-in only service. Too many times they have shown they're willing to put them on the shelf labelled with the un-optimized price, and tried to pass it off on people who don't need it. If they don't stop that, then the price is too high.
If I need a part fast, Amazon/NewEgg will overnight it - never needed one faster than that. Best Buy is a waste of good retail space.
It's true that overnight shipping from NewEgg is usually cheaper than BB, but if it's a Sunday afternoon, I'd have to wait a LONG time before I'd be able to use what I bought, because weekdays are just too busy. I do go once a year or once every two years when I need something right away.
I knew there was a delay, but I had no idea it was that long. And I did appreciate the delay. If you have the Control Panel enabled as a flyout menu you don't want that job firing off without hovering for a good bit. 200ms would probably be better, but I like the delay. If I want speed, I can use the arrow keys for instant pop-outs.
I do evening and weekend computer repair - and I have to admit from the stories I hear - definitely ask around before setting foot in a mom & pop shop. Worse than car mechanics, they will make up problems that don't exist just to take your money. Stuck CD-ROM drive? That's a bad motherboard, sorry! That's a real example. I guess they couldn't be bothered to keep a 20 cent paperclip on hand. I took one of their customers, and they told everyone they knew that went there - I'm a little more busy than I want to be for a part-time business that doesn't buy advertising.
default for copyright law is you can't distribute copies without permission. My CD player has anti-skip measures, so it reads the data into a buffer. Does that mean that since my music CD's don't have EULA's that I'm breaking the law?
Must be nice if your local one re-seals the box. The ones here put a permanent-adhesive price sticker right on the bare original box. You can't remove it when you get home without destroying the pretty package.
Moving is rather expensive for the unemployed - often even more expensive than staying for a long while.

Well, he is a newt (I know, not actually a lizard)
Usually there's some kind of optics in front of the screen to make it seem several feet away without making it look smaller.

Oops - replying to remove stupid accidental mod

A Macbook Pro is CHEAPER than this one!

Not if it's a misconfigured proxy giving the error.

Those billboards seem to accompany a lot of casinos. It always looks closer to looser sluts to me - probably what they want me to associate it with.
I don't know cars too well, but I always act extra dumb, as a way of tuning their talking down to the range of my crap filtering ability.
Indeed, my first thought.
If it has the mass of Jupiter, then Google tells me it's 9.4935 × 1030 carats

But they still tried to charge the extra $40, right?

DMCA? Otherwise, +100 insightful.
