That would be an interesting concept. Done in the first person, where you can listen to the thought processes of the protagonist. And it isn't immediately apparent it is a robot, but initially just someone of the lower class with an implant in their brain making them respond to the "upper class." Then reveal its not a human, but a robot enduring terrible things with no choice in some situations. Suicide wouldn't even be an option to escape the torment of existence it could be.

The only way I can think of doing it would be setting up two routers, one open with no security which hands out certificates or credentials access to the second which is secure, something like registering RADIUS credentials.

The way https works is by having certificates already install on the computer which say "I trust verisign" and then verisign signs the web site owners certificates. So there was fuss on the client, only not for the user, the fuss was done by the browser creators. You'd need a more sophisticated setup in order to do something similar. And a trusted signer, and the access point would need to go to the trusted signer to sign... and it would be a lot more fuss.

Let's just hope that all those eyes are friendly. How many black hats are scouring the source code to generate exploits to sell underground? As quickly as Firefox releases patches, when these bugs aren't reported it's no better than a proprietary browser.

Except that other people are a lot more likely to find the same bug, and report it regardless of the black hats.

I wonder if they'll do the same thing for laws. If its bad, it has to be fixed or repealed.

As for what it would mean, I doubt you'll see simple software, or subcontracting.

But you will likely see larger legal departments, they have to account for things.

Huge EULAs that state the software is guaranteed if you click X, Y, Z, in that order any other use is not permitted and may cause damage. Similar to the safety signs on curling irons "For External Use Only" which don't make it any safer.
