I love it when people rail against the word "blog" while commenting on one. Do not realize that/. is a blog? Or were you actually of the understanding that blogs were just emo's cutting themselves with text online?
Actually, me and the wife have macs, and each of the kids have their own desktops running ubuntu (they dual boot to xp, but the kids actually prefer ubuntu). We are quite familiar with how to do profiles and logins, we just haven't seen the need for them since windows 98.
You have a login on your computer right? So that other people can't see your files?
Not at home I don't, no. Of course not. That type of banal existentialism is severely relegated to the corporate realms alone. I have no idea why anyone would want to introduce that type of environment into a household...
People having to hide pleasures from their wifes/SOs makes me sad (Y_Y)
I hide my taking a shit from my wife too, and she respects me enough to hide her shitting from me. Does that make you sad? Some things are just better left private.
Mac OS uses a modified Mach kernel and some of FreeBSD's userland stuff, but that's it.
Noone cares if you like it or not, but it IS based on FreeBSD, like you just freakin said, right here. If you find that disrespectful, then you need to check the damn license. Now if you try to say that the Mach kernel was not FreeBSD, you are only partially correct, as it was developed solely as the replacement for the BSD kernel, and much of its codebase was integrated into FreeBSD, not the least of which was 100% of memory management.
Attention Guild Wars developers: Blizzard got my money for two years cause they support mac.
Btw- why are you paying the company for ignoring your needs? When you purchase the windows version, then run it on linux in a windows emulation layer, you are effectively telling the company that you support their decision to not support any platform besides windows.
Civil Disobediance has ALWAYS been the most effective way of making a point. If they don't support your platform, the least you can do is not support their business model by pirating the game. Grow a backbone already, but whatever you do, do NOT take pride in fueling their ignorance in marketplace demands.
If the lawsuit is successful, and Nvidia has to pay out damages, then Nvidias stock will drop even further. So who sues the suer for making Nvidia's stock drop the second time? Anyone? Beuller?
Someone wake me up when there's a 1TB SSD for $250 that can do unlimited rewrite ops.
Let me guess, you want a car's drivetrain to promise "unlimited mileage" and your homes A/C refrigerant to promise "unlimited compression/decompression cycles".
I hate to be the one to break it to you, but words like "unlimited" are marketing words only. EVERYTHING is limited and finite. In this case, consumer protection laws state that 7 years of normal usage is long enough to be considered "lifetime" or "infinite" or "unlimited" and all sorts of other key words and tricky phrases.
Those mechanical drives you are comparing SSDs to? They don't offer "unlimited rewrites" except in the marketing sense. 7 years of normal usage. In that same sense, SSDs are already offering unlimited rewrites as they have enough rewrite cycles to last 7 years of normal usage. Just like the mechanical drives.
At least here in the usa, his desire is already fulfilled, just the manufacturers haven't caught on yet wiht their box labeling. You see, here in the USA, the maximum device lifetime of any device is 7 years. No manufacturer is expected by law to make any device that lasts longer than that, and they are legally allowed to call any device that is expected to last 7 years of normal service "lifetime" and other BS keywords, that could easily encompass "infinite writes". Because you see, these SSD drives can already perform 7 years of normal usage. That right there qualifies as "infinite writes". Thank goodness noone told the marketing folks tho.
Just because you do it using Google doesn't mean that it's new, cool, innovative or news worthy.
People were doing it with telescopes and pen and paper long before JTRACK3D, just because JTRACK3D did it via software doesn't mean that it's new, cool, innovative or news worthy.
Oh wait, yes, yes it does. And this new revolution of actively sharing data cross platform with any app that wants it is also new, cool, innovative and newsworthy.
Actually, MMO's kinda flail when "guns" come into play. The combat turns into nothing more than a race to see who shoots first. Unless of course, you insist that the strongest gun in the game is no more powerful than an air powered bb gun. Then it balances nicely. (or you make up some ridiculous energy based armor) Historical MMO works because there is no expectation of technology. Mythical MMO works because we love to believe in magic.
In fact I probably type sudo then my password at least 50 times a day.
You're an idiot for not running as root. There, I said it.

I don't get it. What's the difference between slotMusic and a read-only microSD card with a bunch of MP3 files on it?
Licensing fee, no doubt
Sounds like all you have left then is to provide entertainment.
0 of course, since you failed to specify what i is, it's obvious that it's irrelevant to your interests, and I assumed it was declared a constant.
GP was referring to the 'source' as an ex-CIA agent, not referring to Osama.

Perhaps you should go get your own phail pail there buddy.
The IC powers spell check and grammar check software. It has almost completely eliminated the need for grammar Nazis.
O IC, whel thankz four taht.

Flashblock - don't let it run in the first place and it can't put cookies on your system.
Actually, Flashblock doesn't prevent flash from running - it just shuts it down quickly, so it doesn't block cookies at all.
No, but AdBlock (plus) will prevent those silly flash ads from ever being downloaded in the first place. a much better solution.
try again troll (oh wait, you already did)
try again troll
Not just BSD code, but the damn BSD kernel. That's a tad more significant, yes?
Speaking as a FreeBSD user I don't appreciate it.

Informative my arse, this comment was dead wrong.

I use the following greasemonkey script to force all youtube pages to high quality

Greasemonkey is awesome for little things like that.
Are you serious? I have like 300+ studio dvds, and you think I'm not the target demographic?
