...can you even buy a blu-ray movie for 50$? I don't really see blu-ray replacing dvd in movie sales unless blu-ray becomes cheaper. Last time I checked (admittedly, this was a while ago) blu-ray was still twice as expensive as dvd. I have no interest in buying an HDTV, so blu-ray has absolutely nothing for me. Except added cost, of course.
Congratulations my good sir. You managed to use the precise balance of sarcasm and humor as to catch the masses unawares. It was so damn good, you could almost call it a troll (but we won't). I hereby award you with 2 hole intarwebs for your prize.
They mandated the usage of common standards to prevent consumer abuse. Yes, the government should indeed mandate things like that. Ab-so-fucking-lute-ly
This would have been a good article if TFS had touched on the fact that *CHINA*, of all places, has outlawed the practice of using non-standard charging connections for electronic devices. Meanwhile, back home in the usa, we allow electronics manufacturers to walk all over us. Ain't it grate?
Sorry, I should have specified. I allow all first-party scripts, and block all 3rd party scripts. (and flash-block is redundant and useless, so I don't use that)
I block google analytics because I see no difference between their spying on me and any other advertiser spying on me. Seriously, how did we get to the point where everyone thinks its A-OK for google to spy, but no other advertiser?
Umm, yeah, and you might find that 60% of your websites don't work.
Actually its more like 2% of websites stop working right, and even those will work again with 2 simple clicks of the mouse. (most defective behavior is caused by sites that store their static content on a separate domain from their dynamic content, simple allow scripts from that particular domain as well, and BOOM, everything works, including privacy)
That's nto true. In D2 you could hire one henchman, but they could not travel between chapters, so you had to "unlock" the henchmen every time you got to a new chapter. In the x-pac, they made it so the henchman never left you. I always kept the archer from the first land. The only really useful one, imo.
I worked at cox for a bit. They do not advertise it, but they do indeed offer cable cards. Every one of their CSRs is well versed on how to charge you for it... Once you ask for it, that is.
In other news, German prosecutors annnounced today that they will only be prosecuting auto thefts when more than 200 are committed, and car break-ins when 3000 are committed. "Our goal is to prevent organized crime", said their spokesperson, "we don't care about the occasional junkie or joy-rider."
Ok, I admit that the above paragraph is a bit down the slippery slope, but the point is that the slope exists....
Do you really think the police can afford to spend ten effective salary-years on every car theft investigation? No. They cannot. So they use artificial (and sometimes arbitrary) means to limit the resources put into each case. But when a 'ring of carjackers' aka: a group of professionals, or 'organized crime', you bet your bippie they pull out all the stops to try and bust it. Their response to the **AA is no further down the slope then they already have to go, as like it or not, their pool of resources is limited.

*whoosh* gp was referring to the notion that it was too dark to see anything. nothing but black.
No, more like Tivo
For AoC's sake, they shouldnt have patched the vulnerability. It would have made the game better. Can't speak for anarchy, never played.

EPL is a region of the Eastern Kingdoms, and is well known for the small town of Light's Hope Chapel.
It's a good thing our "learning switch" is set to the on position.
Unless the earth has changed orbit by a very significant factor, it doesn't make any difference at all.
It also means the next generation neutrino detectors are going to be nuclear decay based. That should prove interesting indeed.
Re:For the last fucking time...
Oh, good, that means you're gonna shut up about it now?
This is not admiration, it is highlighting a situation of irony.

This makes no sense. I think some astrologer has smoked one too many crackpipes at the telescope.

You'll have to wait a long long time for that.
it will cost double if you want it any date/time sooner.

s/downloaded/shared
come on people, its about distributing, not obtaining, it's ALWAYS about sharing, NEVER about downloading. STOP SPREADING THEIR FUD FOR THEM! [/rant]
I'll float you on that.
What's the RIA of AMERICA got to do with GERMANY? ...just curious...
Since this is /. the first question must be:
What is one plus one, for sufficiently large values of 1?
