    2) You sign a contract with them that gives them the ability to fine you if you do not follow the rules, and authorizes them to palcea lien against your home if you fail to pay the Fee's and Fines.

    The whole "tactical contest between coaches" is why (American) football is one of the only sports I find interesting.

    I've worked with point-of-sale systems that allowed this at the register. Is it novel because it happens at the table? Gah! That's patentable?

    I have also worked with POS Machines for years, and I have the same thoughts as you.

    Personally, i prefer RTS games to be in 2D. It is much easier to perfectly place and build my cities and palce my armies.

    IF the person who stole your laptop knows their way around a computer, sure. But the average person still is barely capable of navigating MySpace. If they press the power button, and it does not log on, it is going to be useless to them.

    Pfft. Shows what you know. The ones they are going to put into theatres will do that, as well as respond all incoming text messages letting the send know that you are in a movie and will respond when you get out!

    Or how about a doctor who needs to be accessible immediately, but also has social obligations?

    The doctor's job trumps their social obligations. If they need to be on-call, then they should not put themselves into a situation where they are not accessible. Much like how they don't oblige to the social obligations of having a few drinks at a bar.

    I think the largest reason for it is that posting on the internet is done for entertainment. Because it is done for entertainment, it does not require the same level of professionalism as something, well professional.

    Your microwave cooking for twenty minutes is equal to running that console for over two hours.

    I am willing to bet that a lot more people play their console for > 2 hours then microwave for 20 min.

    By the way, do you have any source that supports the idea that nerds and most otherwise intelligent people give a lot of importance to language (Proper spelling & grammar specifically)

    I seem to see it the other way around. That "Nerd" has becomes more socially excepted term and those that are still on the fringe of scoiety have been downgraded from "Nerd" to "Geek".

    I think there is a good portion of people that do not consider a post on the internet to be worthy of proof reading. Any typo's or misspellings are insignificant enough that you can still read and understand the post.
