But I also agree with something another poster said. Our public schools/society fail to teach us what should be considered basic life skills. No one should walk away from school not knowing basic homemaking (cooking and cleaning), budgeting (balancing a checkbook and living within your means), and basic mechanical skills (car care/maintenance, home care/maintenance). And these are lessons that should start early in education.
This is one point where our school system really fails. Instead of teaching another year of US history to WWII, take that time and teach some mandatory life skills classes in the at least early high school.
Flame much? My wife and I both work and make a pretty decent income. We also have 7 kids. We don't have to work more than one job to provide for our family. In fact, if it wasn't for my wife liking new things (we have two cars both with payments). She wouldn't have to work at all. Last year we made almost $90,000, and we live pretty comfortably. Here's an idea. Go to school, get an education, and get a good job. But don't get a bullshit degree like english or biology. Get something useful like a nursing degree. You can get an lpn degree in about a year, and get a decent job. Go on and get a RN degree while working with your lpn. Get an even better job. Then you can get you're BSN online in most cases. Get an even better job then. Last and not least, go on and get an MSN degree. Again almost all online. Now you're making in the top 20% of income earners in the country. It's hard to do, but can be done. Look at my wife. She did it. While doing all the housework, and taking care of our children. I worked full time and took classes part-time. It can be done.
Here's goes my karma for another year. Tired of moderating anyways.
Chris said absolutely nothing racist. Disagreeing with the current President is not being a racist. The current President is worse than Bush ever was. People who voted for him were either secretly racist or openly racist. He's done nothing good for this country except divide Americans even further. There been no openness during his term. There been no progress since he took office. He has helped double our national debt. Gas has doubled in the last 3 years. Stop acting like disagreeing with our president is a sign of racism. By the way I am a proud black American.
The real question is why is scamming like this even illegal? If you are stupid enough to think that a multi-millionaire needs some money to move money across the seas is just stupid.
If you're too stupid to no give people money, you probably didn't deserve it to begin with. Fuck it, let them scam. I never even see these emails, and even if I did, I wouldn't be dumb enough to send the money.
You don't have to be a stupid redneck to know that it's okay to kill pigeons. They are supposedly pretty tasty. Ever eat squab? Me personally, I'm not eating a big ole nasty pigeon.
That's why when you win a lawsuit, you get to charge your legal fees to the losers. Lawyers take cases they think they can win. The little guy doesn't lose out. Unless of course he can't find a lawyer to take his case.
Principals and teachers are heavily biased toward the alarmist perspective. To counter this we are considering launching an effort to develop alternative materials for K-12 classrooms. We are pursuing a proposal from Dr. David Wojick to produce a global warming curriculum for K-12 schools. Dr. Wojick is a consultant with the office of Scientific and Technical Information at the U.S. Department of Energy in the area of information and communication science. His effort will focus on providing a curriculum that shows that the topic of climate change is controversial and uncertain--two key points that are effective at dissuading teachers from teachingthe science [of climate change]. We tentatively plan to pay Dr. Wojick $100,000 for 20 modules in 2012, with funding pledged by the Anonymous Donor.
Wow, they didn't even bother to put the "science" in quotation marks. Guess they *really* never thought these documents would get out. Pretty dumb to use that kind of language, even in purely internal communications. About all they can say at this point is that it was a poorly-proofed typo (that they *meant* to say "bad science" or something). But even that would qualify as a Freudian slip of the fingers, methinks.
Even creepier is the way they capitalize "the Anonymous Donor." Makes me think of a guy petting a cat in a secret island compound somewhere.
FTFY.
Since this was internal it was probably assumed they were talking about Climate Change science, and not all science in general.
And really how is this news. Group that doesn't like something pays people to push their viewpoint on someone else. I think they're called lobbyists in D.C.
Yeah, cause I remember the last time a tsunami destroyed parts of Georgia. Oh that's right, that doesn't happen there.
The worst thing about Fukishima was all the bad press nuclear engergy got. We still have fucking stories about it, but nothing about all the destruction the tsunami caused to Japan, other than the fucking reactor. Nor do we ever get any press on the other reactors that Japan has that survived the tsunami.
Don't get me wrong, the worst case scenario is bad, but so is the worst case scenario of burning coal and oil. The nice thing about a reactor blowing up, unlike increased CO2 gas, is that only the immediate vicinity is destroyed as opposed to the whole human race. AKA, global warming.
Build more fucking reactors, and have some clean fucking energy for once.
I think that where the "developers will be able to 'reuse — by far — most of their code." comes in. The UI code will have to be changed, but the functionality can still be the same.
They have a responsibility to America if they want to keep their nice headquarters in California. If they don't, then by all means get the fuck out, and go live in a dormitory in China. I'm sure they sell enough product in other countries to stay profitable.
Why can't they? There are jobs, and a college education isn't that hard to get.
I'm posting on /. Of course she coulda done better.

It's South Carolina. There is no license to own a gun. It's probably a requirement for citizenship.
Oblig XKCD.

Mosquito larvae. They lay like a million eggs a day.
Do you know the environmental effects of ammonia if it leaks? You'll destroy the whole river and the ocean's it feeds.
That's what people who are afraid of environmental damage will say, at least.
Look I proof read twice and still fucked it up.

That's great.
1. Develop bad ass gaming hardware
2. Market it, so everybody buys it.
3. Profit.
No ???? in that equations. Unless you consider both 1 and 2 the ????.
It is the free market at work. Not enough people out there to justify building the infrastructure. Less people, less money.
But should we classify 3G or 4G service as a utility? That's the real question.

You could work two burger flipping jobs. The work is easy, and you really don't need much sleep.
Taking things on faith, no matter how much you trust the source, makes you a tool.
Or a religious nut.
9/10is an a trend. But it could be coincidence. And honestly for a planet that is billions of years old, 130 years isn't much to base your science on.
I also wonder what rights they actually want.
The right to get fucked by the IRS? Married couples pay more in taxes with two incomes. Unmarried couples pay less, because they can file separate.
The right to share insurance? Large companies like MS already allow this.
The right to adopt? I don't have a problem with this, but hell it's so hard to adopt a child now for a married couple.
I'm not in favor of gay marriage, but I'm not opposed to it either. I say let them do whatever.
I never complained about having to help,I complained they the school expects me to do all the work.
