Low-income can't be claimed as an excuse. We have health insurance, that pays for vaccines, but we still go to the health dept to get them for free. Our doctor's office is about 45 miles from the house, while the health dept. is only 5 miles away. We save time, gas, and copays. I think we might have to pay $5 to get our vaccines from the health dept, but I think that is only because we can afford it. Otherwise, it would be free.
That's why when you make a "large" purchase, especially from someone you don't know you should get a reciept showing exactly what you bought.
I bought a boat from a neighbor. We've had a lot of thefts in our property. I trust the guy, he trusts me. But I still got a bill of sale just in case. It was heck of a deal on the boat and I wanted to be in the clear if anything ever happens.
There are cops and then there are cops. This reminds me of a coworker that received a phone call from the local police. It seems he had a bad break-up with his ex-girlfriend who called them and said he hacked her Facebook account. Listening to the other end of this conversation was fun.
"Who is this?" Friend "mumble, muble" Cops "What the fuck? Really, I hacked her facebook account? I can't believe we are having this converstation. (Several profanities later) Goodbye" Friend
Cops then called his parents, who called him and things went away after that.
This makes me curious if we can train an AI to think of words like a human does? You know the study where people can still read a word as long as the first and last letters are the same? Could make an interesting project for a Ph.D. in CompSci.
It's all semantics. He still has unlimited data, just not at the speeds he was accustomed to. Only number 3 comes close to this. They never promise any speed with any service contract. Even when they adverstise for their 4G network it says "Not available in all areas." It's not false advertising, but it is. It's amazing what you can get away with a disclaimer.
As much as I hate AT&T, I have to side with them on this one. This guy broke his part of the contract, and they are now calling him on it. As has been stated before and after, I'm not even sure how this guy won his case. Don't look at too many more of these working. At best, it'll be changed to a class action lawsuit, and then only the lawyers will win.
Dammit I'm American, and I refuse to learn new math just because it makes more sense. I will continue to to try and memorize that there are 12 inches in a foot, 3 feet in a yard, and dammit, I forgot how many feet in a mile. To hell with the metric system.
No love for the original castlevania? I've only met one person who beat it and he sold his soul to Satan to play video games. At least he claims he beat it. I never saw it done.
Completely unintended. Just copied some numbers off websites. The US govt. spends to much money on stupid stuff. The war on terror, the war on drugs, anti smoking, congressional salaries, the list goes on and on.
I love these arguments. Government should make churches do what they don't want to do. But if this was a church group that was trying to make the government do something we would be bringing up Separation of church and state. Either we believe in the separation of church and state or we don't?
I'm torn on this one. Should all insurance have to pay for medical contraceptives? I think they should. Do they? No they don't. We have to pay like $200 to get something implanted in my wife so she can't have kids for 10 years.
I should probably research this more. What contraceptives are they requiring insurance to pay for? Condoms? No they shouldn't pay for that. Birth control pills? Yes. I'm still torn on govt. mandated health care to begin with. Should the govt. even dictate what private companies pay for? Probably not. Is some form of govt healthcare a good idea? Probably, but isn't that waht medicaid and medicare.
I have a feeling that is what will eventually happen. I don't think Apple will be the ones to finish it. I have a feeling that we will eventually have some type of Star Trek AI on them.
Because you aren't the target market. The target market is people who want to read email, watch youtube, check facebook and surf the web. Tablets are for consuming on.
I own an iPad 1. Its more convenient to sit on my couch, read a magazine that was delievered wirelessly, play a quick game that I either got for free (or paid $.99 for). It's nice at work to listen to music, and the battery life is amazing. Lasts from 8 in the morning until I go to bed. No need to lug around a cord for my laptop. No I can't create on it, wouldn't want to. I have a desktop and a laptop to do "real" computing on.
The US govt has proven they can take your property whenever they want. It's called eminent domain here. Sure it violates the Constitution and Bill of Rights. But hey you can't fight the massive beast my govt has become. It's a sad day in the United States.
Maybe we should get rid of domain names completely. I for one don't want to have to remember 74.125.45.100 is google, but maybe it would stop this stupid shit from happening?
My thinking is that if win8 takes off, then people will buy win8 tablets. They will demand more horsepower and someone somewhere will supply it. I don't know if I would like it for programming, in fact I wouldn't. I have three monitors now, and sometimes I hook up a 32 inch tv to cross refernce between two and three files. But I think the form factor of a tablet is perfect for most people to work on. Not many people have the,any monitors to hook up. I'm torn between a blue tooth keyboard. Addd one and your got an underpowered laptop, but still lighter than lugging around a laptop all day. Only time will tell, but tablets aren't going away soon, but neither are desktops and laptops. I personally like my iPad for consuming now, I could see using it for working on spreadsheets, word docs, and composing emails. I would like more control, but I think that will come later as they become more and more widespread and more power users begin to buy them. Of course I could be wrong, and just sticking up for my expensive toy.
Right now they are only consumer devices, but in another 4 or 5 years, they will probably have the horsepower to be work machines. Hell probably qucker than that. The iPad 3 is supposed to have what a quad-core processor?
Reading opinions like this almost reminds me of something head of IBM said years ago. That there would only be the need for 4 or 5 computers in the world. Hell if you count phones, and tablets in with pcs. I've got more computers than that in my house right now. Soon the tablet will be powerful enough to work on. Especially if Win8 takes off.

Wait, are the early 90's back?
1. Build a simple app
2. Generate a substantial user base
3. Make Microsoft feel threatened.
4. Profit.
You know, until they bribe, err lobby Congress to make it illegal. Then they will have at least 102 legs to stand on.
Actually, they apply for you now at the hospital. I think you still have to sign something, but I can't remember. We just had a baby in January.
1. Create alarmist theory to get funded.
2. Create data to support theory
3. Profit!!!
We finally solved the ???? problem.
Unobtanium.

I need to apply for a grant to study this.

$722 million spent in 2009 on anti-smoking campaigns.
$3,797,048,669 since January 1st on the war on drugs
The US govt. wastes plenty of money on other things.

Apple probably has it patented. When you can't innovate, you litigate.

Yeah, somebody lost all their money, realized they were stupid and reported it to the local police.

I'm actually curious to see how the xbox integration works.
Oblig Star Wars reference if you can use it remotely from work.
It was as if a million managers suddenly cried out in pain, and were silenced.
