And in Stallman's opinion your reason for using gmail so that you can easily retrieve serial numbers for games is no good reason at all, as you should be playing only Free software games which don't require serial numbers. What you could do is set up a mail server on your own machine with something like roundcube on it. There are some disadvantages to it though, but if you value real privacy it'd probably be worth it.

You're absolutely correct. It has made their lives better. Most libertarians will say that people working in sweatshops should be free to work there, and that their lives are better. This is correct. The problem is that libertarians don't seem to criticize the practices that keep these sweatshop workers in these conditions. When the workers dare to try to protest or unionize to be able to try to make things better for themselves, they are often brutally suppressed, rather than being given the freedom to organize and speak out. The freedom for them to work at low wages is fine, but taking away their freedom to organize and try to bring about change is not fine, it is strange that libertarians don't seem to criticize this when it is business that is supressing, yet if a government such as the Chinese Communist Party suppresses desent and stops people organizing to bring about change, libertarians will quickly criticize this, though perhaps that's because libertarians are already critical of government and are able to more easily see the problems with it, but seem to be dazzled by the ability of business to lift people out of poverty, and don't see it when business tries to keep people in poverty. Even as prominent libertarian and Nobel prize winning economist Milton Friedman said, (I'm paraphrasing here) 'a free market is not enough for a free society but it is an essential part.' There needs to be social/political freedom as well as a free market.

Not actually true. I'm currently living in southern China, and the common people know what happened... The problem is that it's a social taboo to mention it, they're scared to talk about it, and they'll get angry if a foreigner brings it up and reminds them. It's a rather sad state of affairs, but I have met some people here that are very critical of the current situation with regards to freedom of speech and are willing to talk about the problems the country has. It's a shame that the common people won't talk about it though. They say they love their country, but I don't think they know what that really means. I myself love China, I love the people, the food, the mountains, the rivers, the old buildings and lots more... But there are problems with China, and I hope they'll be fixed soon.

Perhaps it was the incorrect place to post what I had to say.

I would argue (and I'm vegetarian) that if you're vegan and you're against this then realistically, and we must be realistic here (vegans seem to often be a dream world), that you're condemning animals to further pain and slaughter. Vegans must embrace this if they're against cruelty to animals. To not help promote this is instead to just keep people harming and eating living animals. This is a solution which can lead to a future where there is no excuse to harm animals.
Now I know lots of vegans would point out I'm wrong, and that they can be against both... But if their aim is to create a world that is better for animals, then they should get behind this. To keep expecting some miracle that's going to turn everyone in to vegans is to be idiotic and to condemn animals to further slaughter.

Well actually, I generally read the license's for all the software that I install. I'm about to head back to China soon to start teaching. It's a wonderful place, the people are very nice, the food is great, the chaos is great. The only problem is the media and government, but I think that can change.

Does vista dynamically turn this on or off depending on the available amount of ram? I'm guessing not. This preload thing is something that you can turn on if your machine can deal with the extra memory requirements. Currently, Vista wants to do too much on crappy hardware, even on good machines it's painfully slow at times. So yes, both features it would seem are ram hogging, but this one can be turned on or off, where-as I'm guessing the vista one can't be, or at least is on by default even when the machine doesn't have the ram for it.

In the book, we humans then go on to set up systems to track asteroids that may be a danger to earth, and set up defense systems against them. I know that we currently track some, but how well funded are these organizations that do this? This is really something that is quite important, as it is almost certainly just a matter of when, not if. Do we have systems in place that will allow us to destroy or divert any large asteroids that are determined to be on a path to impact with earth?
