That's where "Section 5" comes in.
If you refuse to give them your name that can detain you for a public order offense. Then you have to give them your name. If they don't believe you they can take you back to the police station for further inquires.
I know it's somewhat fashionable to bash the UK here on/.
However, the majority of UK police ARE reasonable, just like those in the US.
Odly enough I have to agree with you on that.
In fact, in my humble experience, the UK police have been less likely to enforce every law to the letter, unlike the US police. And though I've never had a policeman point a gun at me anywhere, this is less likely to happen in the UK for some reason;-)
Unless you're a Brazilian late for the tube.
To be fair, the US'ians don't have the "ID-card & CCTV" control freaks in our Nu-Labia government to deal with (Jaqui Smith, Jack Straw, David Blunket... I'm looking at you). Though the UK does have a general election on the horizon:-)
For what it's worth, I rather like our green and pleasant land.
We just urgently need a change of government.
to be honest I don't think the Conservatives will be any better in power... The sooner Scotland breaks away from Nu-Labour's Green and pleasant police state the better...:D
We'd have had to put up with police like that for years!!!
If this was in the UK then the OP would still be locked up and his camera confiscated (lost).
Anyone with a camera is a suspected terrorist on recon..:D
Also in the UK If a police officer asks your name for any reason (even if you are walking down a road and done NOTHING illegal) and you refuse, you get arrested / finger printed / DNA taken (which is held on a Database for upto 10 years even if no charges are made!!) and stuck in the cells till they can prove your identity...
they might through in a Section 5 offense for pissing them off...
Maybe it was a plan to stimulate the cleaning, underwear and toilet paper industries...
I'm sure there will be a load of undies needing cleaned tonight.....
... It was covered in a burst of lager from my nose and mouth as i read this: "Vista today, post-Service Pack 2, which is now in the marketplace, is the safest, most reliable OS we've ever built. It's also the most secure OS on the planet, including Linux and open source and Apple Leopard. It's the safest and most secure OS on the planet today."
...Are Apple forcing people who "upgrade" their Music to DRM free versions to buy their ENTIRE collection of music again not just the good tracks you want to be DRM free??
Say you (not me honest!!!!) bought that 'Selena Gomez' album when stoned out of your mind on mushrooms! If you want to get that Sweet "Sympathy for the devil" track you bought last year DRM free, you would also need to get that Gomez album as well as all the other DRM enabled stuff at the same time!!! No way to choose individual tracks!!
...Microsoft are now saying that Windows 7 might need a beefier system (The old upgrade or die scenario again!!) than current "NetBooks" can provide, so they are keeping Windows XP.
Thought Windows 7 was to be adaptable for big desktop systems AND small netbook type systems!
They might have worded the warrant to include the owners home address and place of business looking for: "Information related to, and or, items involved in the distribution, and or, storage of copyrighted materials. And to stop the destruction of evidence (in the form of electronic log files) related to said distribution of copyrighted materials." basically anything with a CPU or hard disk can be taken!!
Hope the lift was buggered so they had to carry them down the stairs!!:D:D
On another note! Heard that a couple of the hosted servers were part of the area's emergency digital phone system (It's been reported that 911 number was dead in the surrounding area at the same time the FBI entered and started taking Servers!!)
The cards are fun! Think there's sets of cards that work for and against each other.
I got 3 cards (2 of same type lv0 and lv1) 1 card gives +2 2 cards gives +4 3 will give either +6 or +8 (don't know if they 'add to' or 'double' the previous total. I've noticed that different cardsets will cause the score to go down if placed in the wrong order or go up by +1 instead of +2
I Agree with "1mck". Why does it have to be the "Christian" God? How about Gods from other Religions? Don't they get a word in? All those Greek and Roman Gods hanging around, being bored since no one worships them!
How about this.... If ONE religion is to be taught in Science Class, How about teaching Other religions in this class too?! We can give it it's own special Scientific Name, oh i don't know something like "Theology" and have all those religion's in their own class and leave those Evil Pagan / Atheist Science stuff in their own Class.
Have they tried the experiment from the end of the remake of "The Italian Job" where the guy playing "The Napster" blows Kelly Brooks clothes off using a set of speakers!?!?
Now Get Kari B to recreate that experiment, High speed slow-mo and all:D
Originally the "Music Video" was designed as a way for the industry to promote a song when the Artist was not available to play it live. In a sense it was designed from the start to be a 'Loss leader' for the music industry. That the playing of the track itself was promoting the artist and song, so the money they lost in making the video was recouped in the form of larger sales of the track involved. Now with less money going around the Industry are wanting more ways to create income, turning the traditionally loss making music video in to a money stream in it's own right.
Check the contract your customers sign.
there's usually (if the lawyer who wrote it up was worth his salt) would have a clause in the contract stating "The ISP can change he terms of the contract with 30 days notice." or words to that effect.
All the OP needs to do is set up a mail shot to all subscribers telling them of the changes to the contract will come into force in 30 days and wait..... Then dump all the complaints on the boss's desk. The reality of him loosing about 10%-20% (pulled out of the air guestamate) of the customers might make him rethink and that's when you suggest a few alternatives (Just make sure you do a lot of fact finding and homework on the issues before you talk to the boss).
Just waiting for Norton to pop up and say....
"Dear Honorable Sir or madam
I am writing to you from Norton Nigerias headquarters. Please advise you have been awarded Nortons prize fund of one million thousand dollers please enter your account details below to receive funds in due course."
Well it's Scotlands way of getting back at England for Thatchers lot dumping the poll-tax on us in the '80's...
That's where "Section 5" comes in. If you refuse to give them your name that can detain you for a public order offense. Then you have to give them your name. If they don't believe you they can take you back to the police station for further inquires.
Citation please.

Or are these types of stories probably sponsored by E-Bay's PR department..
:D
:D:D
Just think of all those people now bidding on old hard drives now... Probably won't be able to pick one up for under £99 by the end of the week

Maybe it was a plan to stimulate the cleaning, underwear and toilet paper industries... I'm sure there will be a load of undies needing cleaned tonight.....

I currently use it for backups. Some of it's coding is OSS. you get 2Gb free storage (which should be enough for you to test out the system.

Think the unofficial motto of Mythbusters is.. "When all else fails say; bugger it! Use all of the available explosives!" :D Big boom is fun!!

How about Scientists and their Labs getting TAX Free status. :D Fair's fare... eh?
To me it's more like short hand for "syphilis" Which the channel will probably turn into when they make the change over...:D
