According to the guys at R-Pi, After the import tax, the actual cost of producing the boards would add at least and extra £5 ($7.50) to the cost of each board.
Main problem with building it in the UK is that: It would be $10-$15 more expensive and you'd have to wait 2-3 Months to get one rather than 2-3 weeks!!
So you took a "Live" database You played around with the code around it You didn't know what you were doing, You deleted some of that code, Database went down. The users who relied on the Database could not use it as you Buggered it up... and you're blaming the manager for being annoyed that you "broke working code"?
Think you need to see a shrink about your memory lapses!
Their "battle cry" against Evolution is "Irreducible Complexity" meaning some biological systems are so complex that if a single part is removed the system fails.
It's the equivalent of saying "if i remove the cam shaft from a vehicle it can't function, therefore GOD must have created vehicles" (Crap car analogy but can't be arsed thinking like a "new earth Creationist")
you are right Nokia and RIM don't make desktop software.
But Nokia DO make Communication HARDWARE (not just those pesky mobile phone devices) including Microwave Cell Towers, Telco Networking devices. Nokia providing "backdoors" into their Telco devices opens up interception to any calls or data between devices on that network.
Also we all know RIM have restricted their own phones to their own Range of Backberry Servers, one backdoor opens the whole system.
A few "YellowCake" warheads aimed at Oil tankers in the Bahrain region (popular Western Tourist resort!) or in a couple of the Saudi Oil fields would do it. Trying to clean up Oil spills is a pain at the best of times! Imagine trying to clean up a Radioactive Oil spill. OPEC would then reduce Oil exports so price per barrel hits $150-$200 over night. Saudi also losses out on the "Western Tourists" who now either can't afford to travel or are scared about the Radioactive Oil covered beaches to go any where near the region.
well the tl;dr version "the World economy could possibly grind to a halt."
If you read the linked articles then they the Missiles hit the targets 125 miles away and they was thought to be the effective range, but no exact details are known. It's possible it could reach 140+ Miles putting the US 5th fleet within range.
They are claiming it as a "Long Range" weapon, though 125 Miles seems a bit short to be considered "Long Range" so the thinking is that the range might be longer or they are bluffing.
Just sink a couple of Oil Tankers or other commercial ships as they pass through the straits. That would have a bigger impact on the US than trying to attack the fleet...
Course Lectures split in to blocks of 10-15 mins each, with a small True/False or Multi-Choice quiz at the end. (you can do this with DVD's it just takes a bit of planning with the menus when authoring the DVD.) All supported by PDF of Teacher & Student lecture notes and examples on a single DVD.
Of course, the fact that this hasn't happened is proof that it probably cannot. The question we then need to answer is why not. It's as if God has us all in a gigantic microwave oven, and we're trying to figure out what's keeping him from hitting the 'Start' button...
not seen a Hitchhikers Guide quote today so here goes:
There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
I am supposing the machines log on to the network using DHCP? Just make sure the server is set to block port 80 or disable any internet connection to the server during the tests. Also since they are using Ubuntu, does it have a "guest" account with limited rights already?? If so get them to log into that account to run the tests.
Number of times i've been on the phone supporting a user who's computer "Just stopped working" & "I did nothing, just trying to do my work" and after 20-25 mins of talking through the problem they are having, they let slip that "well I installed a program..." and I then find out the user's manager has a copy of the admin password on a sticky on his monitor.
Next thing you know their manager is on to my boss wondering why IT has not got the machine running and complaining of the downtime and loss of money it's costing him!.
Then i explain to my boss that the user used an admin password they found on their manager's desk to install non approved software.
Now may boss is upset because i've spent 30 odd mins with a user with a problem with software that we are not supposed to support. The user is upset because he's now in trouble with his manager and blames IT for not getting it fixed. And the boss is now in an argument with the users manager about password security....
If the bloody user said at the start he'd installed software without permission, i'd have charged him a 6 pack of beer (or lunch at local pub!) and fixed it in 10 mins max and everyone would have been happy! (quick restore from last nights backup and he's been good as gold!)
You can get up to 2 years i think under RIPA for not disclosing a password! the reason the kid only got 16 weeks was that he was still technically a minor.
RAM can hold a copy of the last data held for a good 5 seconds if warm and up to +20mins of frozen, so it could be chilled/frozen using compressed air, removed and placed into a reader that dumps the ram memory to disk.
which are???
Please enlighten us mere mortals....

So i over estimated a tad... ^_^
Main problem with building it in the UK is that:
It would be $10-$15 more expensive

Let me get this straight...
So you took a "Live" database
You played around with the code around it
You didn't know what you were doing,
You deleted some of that code,
Database went down.
The users who relied on the Database could not use it as you Buggered it up...
and you're blaming the manager for being annoyed that you "broke working code"?
Think you need to see a shrink about your memory lapses!
You were FIRED, you didn't quit!!
Who needs to reboot for kernel changes these days?
http://www.ksplice.com/
^_^ lol
...ASCII based GUI's start popping up on Windows Server boxes everywhere.
Bit annoyed that it's not made in the UK.
But at least it's not VapourWare,
Wonder how many of the other "USB PC's" will actually get into production...

They don't need to hit Europe!

i know! why target the US fleet.
Just sink a couple of Oil Tankers or other commercial ships as they pass through the straits.

As a starting point, make the actual videos downloadable or on DVD with a "quiz" style menu.
Check out the Stanford On-line courses. http://www.db-class.org/course/auth/welcome That's probably about the style you're looking for.

Simples....
they should have called it "Smarch" instead of "Xtr"
"Lousy Smarch Weather!!" Homer Simpson
Unless they use shield mounted taser system.

well at least your passengers can tell you to "watch out for that car!" the person on the other end of the phone can't...
