I do dual boot I need my STEAM to play Counter Strike : Source ^_^
But that hopefully might change in a few months ^_^
But the agro of waiting for first the AV to update then Windows to update that's AFTER wating ages for the system to actually be usable!! it' gets very old very quickly!
i know it's only a dual core atom ION machine but with XP it was slow, Win7 is bearable... Linux is faster than Windows!
Get the games companies to release Linux version of their big titles (Modern Warfare series, Elder Scrolls series etc... etc...) and you'll see more and more Linux desktops!!
Well that and AMD / Nvidia get around to shipping bug free drivers that is.. ^_~ lol
It's probably $40 per Model B if you don't count the discount they got from Broadcom for the SoC With the discount the Foundation makes around $2 per device.
NDS (HQ based in Israel) makes the "smart cards" for all the Murdoch companies that require Smart card technology.
ITV Digital / On Digital used smart cards made by Canal+ (A French company).
Canal+ took NDS/Murdoch to court in 2002 accusing them of leaking the French companies data to Pirate websites. Murdoch settled out of court by agreeing to buy some of Canal+'s non-profitable properties.
Also check out Echostar (Dish Network). NDS did the EXACT same thing to their smart card technology, Echostar took them to court and NDS was found guilty. But jury did not award the $1billion EchoStar was claiming instead they got $100 (yup from 1 billion down to 100 dollars!!) for 2 breached of Californian penal code.
Ok so I'm in the UK using Ubuntu only my Laptop and XBMC on my Desktop.
One of the big problems for me is Legal media viewing,
I'd love to use Netflix/Lovefilm but it's Windows/Mac only. I'd love to watch the Blu-Ray disks I've received (either via comp wins or presents from others) without breaking the law, but I can't since they won't licence the required key's to Linux based players. (I know their are "work arounds" for playback but I've never gotten them to work reliably...)
I've actually bought a US Amazon prime account in the past so i can access their streaming movie service.
It's so annoying, here I am, willing to actually PAY for content! (i know! it's a shock!!) but i can't. So I have to resort to not so legal means to view movies which I have physicality in my collection. Or go to the trouble of keeping an Windows install upto date just for watching movies (Which, to me, is more trouble than it's worth)...
If i remember correctly Aldrin's original idea was to use the "main tank" from the Space shuttles as the transport vehicles.
The tank was just jettisoned and left to burn up on re-entry, The extra "cost" to take it into orbit would have been negligible.
Then all they would need to do is vent any residual fuel in the tank to the vacuum of space, install a couple of air locks and some viewing ports and you have a habitable pressure vessel.
All that's left to fit is life support and a few home comforts if it's for human transport or a load of cargo straps... ^_^
Then load it up and give it a nudge in the correct direction...
Send up a number of transport vehicles that run in an orbit between Mars and earth. It's not fast since it's using "gravity assist" trajectories (i.e. no fuel) all you need is the fuel for a shuttle to transfer the passengers to either the planet surface (or orbiting station).
Have a few of these transports in operation then you can have transfers every 4/12 weeks with the travel time of between 80 and 200 days depending on the orbital positions.
A bunch of geeks high on red-bull and cheesy puffs in a 4x4 armed to the teeth with universal remote controls. Driving the suburbs, Sega beats blaring from their iPhones, aiming their remo's at the houses pressing the rewind button.
Costing the poor householder $$$ in MS rewind fees...
... Apart from Metro only being useful if you have a laptop/tablet/smartphone (touch screen Desktop/TV never worked!)
Was that both GUI's weren't linked, they were in essence 2 separate desktops. So if i opened IE (or any other program) on Metro and had to switch to the "other" desktop, If I opened IE there it was a totally new session. (I'd think it would be better, or nice, to ask the user if he wanted to pull the session from metro.)
The retailers don't, but the initial shipment was sent directly to the foundations address and they are then being forwarded to RS and Farnell as required.
It's a totally roundabout way of doing it, but think this was due to the timing of everything as well as the foundation wanting to get them into the country as soon as possible.
I was hoping they would hold back a few hundred for sale directly through their own site! but alas! looks like i'm stuck with RS or Farnell for now
As for the price, they did say it was without local tax and shipping costs, as it was being sold worldwide. The price without TAX is probably what it will be sold at, in bulk, to education establishments rather than individuals.
1) Authoritarian route : State before the Exam starts that Key-logging and screen recording software has been installed on all machines, and no cell phones allowed. With an automatic fail if key-loggger or screen capture software is disabled or caught using a cell phone (with a supervised resit later the same day with an automatic 1/3 drop in maximum score.)
2) Sneaky B'stard approach : Make the question so hard or badly worded that their is NO definitively correct answer, or that no 1 answer makes sense. Then it would be harder for "little Jimmy goggler" to find a correct answer on cheating sites, unless he's been taking notes and paying attention in class.
Either approach probably won't work but it's my suggestion ^_^
They have mentioned many times on their forum that they are holding back on the documentation till just before the boards ship to customers. They are creating it all from scratch and there's only a hand full of people working on the R-Pi Project, as well as their full time day jobs (few of them work for Broadcom)
Once it ships they will be releasing all the Open Source information they can, They also have Legal issues to work through regarding what Broadcom info they can release and other annoying copyright stuff like that.
Maybe but Tony's "Hovis" ad was better :P
*Runs* & *ducks* from resulting flames...

I'm not with one of the "big 6" ISP's but I'm with an independent LLU that uses their cable.
Will they be forced to block it as well?
Not a big problem for me, as their is always a way around it!
I for one welcome Microsoft Home Automation Line of products...
I feel safe with their Home automation Line
Or H.A.L. for short.......

unless he's talking £ not $ then 8 for £200 is just possible. ^_^

litigate!
