yet BMW, Toyota and others have all invested millions to billions on doing business and making goods here, complete with US subsidiaries.

Doesn't the federal (and state) governments lure those companies here with tax credits? They basically don't pay taxes on property or other things for the first few years of operation in some cases.

We effectively have to bribe them because our tax law makes it not worth it to have a large company like Toyota here.

I wonder what the temperature requirements are? We have tons of basically useless land out in really inclimate places, like deserts in the Southwest and practically glacial areas in the Northern U.S. Crops can't grow there and algae tanks wouldn't need to be "rotated" like crops, so we could make use of this space. It would probably equal cheap land for the companies as well.

That's true, but I was always more fascinated by the stuff they did for NASCAR. Not only do they use on-screen tech, but they also make use of GPS to do those fancy graphics showing info on the cars while they're moving on the road.

There was an article about this particular tech NASCAR uses in some magazine, but I can not for the life of me remember it, nor can I find any videos demonstrating it...

Ask people to name their favorite movie from the years 1900-1950, and a lot of people would probably say The Wizard of Oz or a Hitchcock film. Maybe one of the golden oldies. But they're not going to mention some obscure tripe that was the equivalent of big, shitty Hollywood blockbusters of the time.

The Gaza Strip is not particularly a holy site, yes, but the issues with Jerusalem is one of the major problems, is it not? That's why I think it should all just be under some blanket, ostensibly nonpartisan authority like the U.N.

A lot of places, most major religions don't fight over it. I don't think the Muslims want to get their hands on the Vatican, nor do the Jews or Christians want to get their hands on Mecca and Medina really. But Jerusalem? The Jews want their old home back. The Christians launched like, what, ten or so crusades to try and capture it? And of course the Muslims were the reason for a lot of the crusades. That kind of conflict still continues to today, albeit not on as large of a scale.

I mean, we can't have lead in bullets anymore (at least in America), but we make tons of electronics with the stuff. The electronics get dumped in landfills because you have to pay to recycle them (absolutely ludicrous IMO). The lead and other toxic chemicals go into the ground water, and it spreads from there.

You don't care about green now, but if one of your kids is born mentally disabled because of lead content in the water system you'd sure as Hell start caring pretty damn fast.
