    There is a big difference between, you are in public nothing you do is private and you are in public you are under constant surveillance and the government can know where you are at any given time if it so desires.

    But there is a difference between legally allowed to get a loan, having a credit rating high enough to get one, and getting a loan with a interest rate low enough to afford.

    if you violate copyright law you have to declare bankruptcy and forever be unable to get a loan, meaning you can never own a house, a car, etc.
    In some ways it is better to be a murderer, a sex offender, or any plethora of other "lesser" crimes.

    Well if he was the only one to post the tracks online then that is actually not a unreasonable figure for the losses the company might suffer.
    Of course he would not be, basically all music is available online from a variety of sources, but it seems less unreasonable if you take the stance "he is being punished for all lost revenue from the pirating of those tracks", because he is the only one caught.
    But then I am sure nothing is stopping them from suing person after person for the same songs.

    Yes I believe that article seems to be implying that HP should of secretly warned their shareholders of this impending decision in the hope/knowledge that many of them would sell (which is insider trading).

    Well I could see it happening. It is actually a benefit to many places to not have game playing.
    I would not be surprised if a huge percentage of browser based game playing is done by kids in school, during class, between class, and at lunch. And many places only have IE installed, and not being able to peruse NGs might just seem like a feature to them.

    So he was jailed for being mean....
    Sure he is a despicable human being, but at the very least he should of had some warning that being mean can land you in jail, because this is the first I have heard of it.
    And it does not at all seem fair given that people have and continue to do far more mean things(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church) and the government has never taken a interest before or appeared to have the ability to prosecute mean people (particularly peoples who's meanness did not cause any harm above and beyond normal physiological stress).

    I am sure that it could make a profit (and I am sure it already does). But I am also sure NASA does not even make there own food, and is not at all equipped to mass produce it, let alone do so in a economical fashion.

    Because of certain laws, not because they simply never got around to it yet. now this seems to be saying that Canada has been illegal movie download litigation free simply because they have not bothered to sue anyone yet?

    I am not sure about movies, but I know we are allowed/semi allowed to pirate music because the government taxes all MP3 players expressly to pay for the loss of profits that piracy costs the artists.

    I agree, from my experience in my own legal disputes and hearing about others basically when you are suing about something you sue everyone involved and let the courts and evidence shown in them decide who actually gets to foot the bill.

    Is when someone/a computer buys some stocks and then sells them for a profit 1 second/minute/hour/day/month latter, where does the money come from?
    I mean someone has to lose it right? So who just lost it all the money you just made in potentially a fraction of a second (before anyone could even get the money you just spent on the stock).

    What about sites that contain content that is undeniable porn, but also pander in a equal amount of completely non adult content.
    4chan for example has places for porn and places for stuff that is absolutely not porn.
    A lot of Anime sites include content made for children alongside of the most degraded hentai.

    What about all the adult, sexual oriented, material that might not be considered porn by most/some people?
    Sure there are tones of cut and dry cases, but there is also tons of erotic art, erotic literature, softcore, movies with a 18+ rating that some conservatives would call porn and they even would have a case for it, but that does not mean that it deserves to be forced into .xxx.

    You don't really have that much leeway in how fast you drive. Sure 5 above or below the speed limit is fine, but anything more and you will be pulled over at some point.

    Stupid rant.
    There are many many reason why it would be at least as confusing if you did the change over.
    Sure it would be easy to tell people continents apart what time to have a meeting, but far harder to figure out if you are asking one of your peers to get up in the middle of the night or stay through lunch.
    now you know what it happening in other countries based on the time, dawn is around 6-9am (based on the time of year), lunch at noon-ish, a normal working day is around 9-5, the day ends at midnight.

    This obvious would be a benefit to someone who lives in their basement and has simply stopped living by the sun, but that does not mean that it would not make everything more confusing for the vast majority.

    Well that is not to shabby then, I did not think that any school districts were comprised of only 300 students.
    You would think that that guy would us used that $167 number instead of $50,000 as the one makes him sound like an idiot while the other makes it seem like he followed a moderately well thought out and implement plan.

    $50,00 for an entire district, that is ridiculous and small potatoes does not even do it justice.
    That has to be like 25 cents per student (and no matter how small the district is it would still just be pocket change per student).
    And just think of the cost of some kind of child care for all of these kids during this one extra day off that they parents will not have, or alternatively the extra cost to the tax payers for all the extra damaged property that these unattended children will cause.

    You don't know much about the higgs if you think that their is no evidence that it exists.
    No experimental viewing of the higgs does not equal no evidence.
    Their is lots and lots of experimental and theoretical evidence that it exists, still since we have yet to find it after searching for so long the evidence against it is also adding up.

    It is very very important, just like the hardware it runs on, the people who maintain it, the people who make it, the power to power it, etc, etc ,etc.
    And at the end of the day for 99% of software hundreds of thousands of people could of made it. Sure only one company did and then patented it but every developer on the team could of been replaced by someone else.

    This is like saying food is important, and obviously it is. but that does not mean that it does not grow on trees or that everybody and their mother can grow it in their back yards.
