    I don't get why it even supports other platforms in the first place.

    it is a amazing xbox media center(on an amazing console), but the whole design in my opinion does not work well at all for high res mouse environments.

    It would be interesting to see the ratio of xbox users to other users of the xbmc.

    Does anyone hear use it on their computer, I sincerely do not get why anyone would (unless they changes it radically since the last time I used it).

    I would just like to note that I do not condone the abuse of children, but CP != child abuse.

    While some CP is little 5 yo girls being raped, the vast majority is likely to be 17 yo girls who took and distributed the pictures themselves.

    And the amount of hate and non understanding surrounding the viewers of CP is amazing.
    Their is not something that happens magically on a child's 18th birthday that suddenly makes then sexy. and people ages cannot even be accurately guessed to within more then a few years.

    The charging of 17 yos for distributing pictures of themselves, and normal people with a few pictures of lolicon on their HDD, just takes time and valuable resources away from catching the real CP makers and distributors.

    I believe that Japan allows animated/drawn "child" porn.
    So this would not be effecting any of that type.

    Watched a old documentary, Net Neutrality (2006) (PBS NOW).
    It was amazing how different the issues were then, anti net neutrality then is now common practice that even /.ers do not even seem to notice.

    One of the main reasons that the people back then were given to allow the anti net neutrality was that the ISPs could never go overboard and do anything really bad, since the FCC had the ability and power to stop them.

    I go to university of Waterloo and from what I have seen their is a pretty equal ratio for WinXP, OS X, and Linux.
    But if you go with XP or OS X then you better have plans for upgrading pretty soon as they are both very old and close to unsupported.

    But I would say go with all three, anywhere they go the students will encounter all three OSs and if they do not know how to use all three then they will be less prepared then if they did.

    The problem I have with it, is i have seen it get slower and slower, but I do not think I have gotten any useful new features in years.
    Actually some of the things I used to use stopped working and some other "features" were implemented that made browsing a lot more annoying and time consuming.

    Maybe I a just not remembering right, but I cannot remember a update that ever improved Firefox for me.

    Steeling movies is very different, when you steal somethings you deprive the owner of it.
    When you "steal" a movie you are not stealing it, you are copying it.

    I disagree that a lack of bias necessarily makes history boring.

    And I would say that not knowing history, is better then knowing a fake version of history.

    But no history ever conforms exactly to a general idea,
    even if we assume that "America [is] a nation chosen by God as a beacon to the world, and free enterprise as the cornerstone of liberty and democracy",
    the indoctrinator part is that they plan to write history, keeping in mind what they want the history to show (and they admit this).

    You must write history without any any thoughts to what you want it to say overall, or you will end up with a history used to indoctrinate people.

    And it is possible to think of situation that you might have to use Perl or pascal or basic, it does not mean that universities need to teach every single language.

    "That said, what language are you learning that uses pointers? Direct memory access is vital to a thorough CS education."
    Assembly, C++, and MIPS (a binary processor language), and we create a simple C like language compiler.

    No, but not every language has to be taught in every school.
    University cannot completely prepare you for every single job that exists, you might still have to learn on your own if you want a specific job.

    I never said that the university did not teach low level concepts or did I advocate not knowing how programming works on a low lvl.

    But knowing C as a language is not needed for this, just last year I took a course were we wrote a simple C like language compiler.

    I do not know how to program in C, but I do know how to program in processor language, assembly.

    C is important, but I do not think it needs to be taught.

    I am taking computer science in university right now.
    We do eventually take courses to learn a little C++, but I do not think we are ever taught any C.
    C is historic, and not something I think anyone should want to ever use (why use an abacus when you have a calculator).

    I have played Dead Space (the beginning anyways), and it is not even comparable.

    Penumbra is so scary my heart was racing while I played parts of it.
    It was by far the scariest experience of my life.

    She is 10 years old, obviously she is not in charge of her own food.
    Her parents and the school are the only ones who should be supplying her with food, so why is she the one getting detention?

    It cannot be expected of her to have self control or to even understand health, take the food away and punish the source, anything else is just ridiculous.

    Whenever I have something that I bring everywhere and cannot put in a pocket and do not want to search through my backpack for I tie it to my pants belt loops.

    Lanyards work well.
