No, its not going to affect 90%. If they added some of these features to windows 2000, such as the firewall, for starters, then that would really make a big impact. How many buisnesses in the world run win2k instead of windows XP? lots.. Many companies won't upgrade because there isn't enough difference between 2000 and xp to make it worth the effort. this is microsoft's attempt to make it worth the effort to upgrade, excep that they broke compatibility with lots of home grown apps that companies use.

We set him up, and tell him his password is blank.

Two minutes later, he comes back awfully upset, demands that we reset his password, cause it wasn't blank. So we do.

2 minutes later, he's really getting pissed. Comes back with the head of IT. We ask him if the caps lock is on? He gets furious, asking how the hell it could matter if the caps was on with a blank password. We respond with, "there is a big difference between a capital B and a little b". He is seething, but slowly the realization creeps in, and he figures out what the hell we meant. At a university, this would make sense. Where there are pure science majors and such. But a community college is about employing people in the local community. Literally, 90% of our incoming students do not have a computer at home. I work at a small community college and we have been swapping out CRT's for LCD's whenever a computer is upgraded. We have found that the extra cost is justified by several factors.

The space savings are significant in the computer labs especially. Students now have room to put their books out in front of them, between themselves and the screen. (we had crowded labs before, the desks are narrow and close together.).

The power savings are good. Before, students would forget to turn off the monitors when class was done. It still happens, but when those LCD's go into powersave mode, they use almost nothing.

The rooms stay sooo much cooler. Our AC was always running in the computer labs before, with 30 17" CRT's going (and PC's). but the LCD's produce so little heat that the room stays nice and cool, and the AC is off more than it is on. (lots of energy savings there).
