Only the fruit in the middle of the garden was the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. BTW it says nothing about apples, are you so sure you know what your talking about?
Any course of action that increases Microsofts monopoly in any market is, by definition, a bad thing. Microsoft does not have a monopoly on search. So while I'm sure alot of us here will agree with you that we don't want to see a stronger Microsoft, it would be wrong to use that argument in this context.
Adam lived a bit longer then that, after all living off the fruit of immortality kind of does that to you.
Now as for your ten year statement, have you bothered to think how convoluted that system would be?
It's because of IE that most web devs use Firefox. I mean how can one wilingfuly swear and condem IE to the depths of hell while still using it as your primary browser?
Scenario one:
"I'm sorry mam but this card is not in your name"
"Oh yeah you see its in my husband's name"
Scenario two:
"I'm sorry sir but this card is not in your name"
"Oh yeah you see its my same sex partner's card"
Scenario three:
Someone has stolen the card, does not go to a cashier to use it. Instead goes to ATM.
Scenario four:
Someone has stolen the card, does not go to a cashier to use it. Instead uses it over the internet.
Oh course granted there is a slim chance that it would work. Of course most of the people how have "Photo Id" written on their cards don't have the card signed.
When people sign their credit cards "[See] Photo ID". All that does is slow things down, since any place that checks the card and makes you sign is still going to make you sign.
In some parallel perfect world, yes. But this world is far from perfect, likewise there is no such thing as a perfect program. All programs will break or be broken by another program. If what I just said was true then any business would be taking a risk by going unsupported, a risk which over the life time of the product may very well come back to bite them. So if the programmer/developer already has the support contract/money it is in their best interest to make the most bug free program possible. Thereby reducing their costs to support their client and increasing their profit margin.
Just as movie release groups have a lot of specialized knowledge and connections, thereby making copyright infringement trivially easy for the masses, so too will anti-TPM groups appear, who will trivialize this kind of circumvention for the masses.
And hey will be called The Scene! Wait no that might confuse people, how about: The Warez Scene! Yeah I think that'd work.
No kidding! Americans never known what hit them, one year their anime industry was chugging just fine and next thing you know the Japanese practically own the industry world wide!
Me but thats besides the point, the laptop you posted casts half of what a Macbook runs for. Now heres the cool part, since you may not like six pound laptops all you need to do is select a different make or model.
I just don't get it! Why do people keep comparing Apples to Dells? Dell isn't even the largest PC box mover, HP got that title what a year and a half ago?
Silly, the problem is not that we don't have a bridge. In fact we've even given it a cute name: The Petersmans Bridge. The problem is that we had to build a dome over it.
The latest versions of Vista Genuine Service Pack Premium Would you like fries with that?
PS: Is it possible that you are talking about Windows Vista SP1? Or was there another one I was not aware of?
Any lawyer who writes to a businessman's MOTHER over what is basically a political issue, deserves to be taken out and shot. Been playing a bit too much GTA I take it?
Yes, except it was a lot more army oriented and was mandatory for most of the population. The exceptions were minorities like those of Jewish ancestry, they didn't have to attend. Lucky eh?
That would be true if Canonical charged per hour, they don't, they charge per desktop/server/year. That means that like ISPs its in their best interest to over sell their support capacity. So whats the best way to do this eh? Well I can bet you the answer is not the nightmare you suggested.
PS: It sounds like your a bit sore over your local city council being screwed over by some consultants. Honesty have some faith, if it wasn't Linux they would have found something else to waste your property taxes on.
