Pardon the lame analogy, but if I own a pizza restaurant, and serve horrible pizzas, does that justify people stealing pizzas from me?
---------
No, but you get to keep the original music track while the other person gets a copy. If I steal the pizza, you lose a pizza. If I DOWNLOAD a COPY of a file, you don't lose the file.
No, they don't. I've not listened to any new music from major labels for about 2 years, and I don't think i'm missing out on much.
The only folks i've heard of so far are Amy Winehouse (whos voice I hate more than Macey Grays'), NIN and Radiohead. I bought NIN and Radiohead's albums (FLAC for NIN, CD for Radiohead), and I also bought 10,000 Days by Tool.
Apart from that, i'll gladly listen to my Maiden, Metallica, Guns 'n' Roses, and all my other music many more times. I can wait out this game indefinately, as i'm missing nothing.
I will admit, however, that I do download CC licenced music. I'm not overly impressed so far, though.
Are the people involved in this process, from conception to the current state, being held liable for criminal negligence?
They're being heavily fined and potentially imprisoned for a blatant disregard for government policy?
Is there anybody in a position to make in-depth enquiries regarding the processes involved in this fiasco, who has the wherewithal and political clout to actually do something about it?
I didn't think so. Now bend over and get ready for another "Oops, we did it again!" situation.
No no no... They own the *Operating System*. If they owned the BOX, they would have the RECEIPT.
*I* have the receipts, as *I* built the box.
The first time any Microsoft solicitor got that statement through a court, Microsoft share prices would drop to $0 as companies worldwide killed off volume license agreements, maintenance contracts, support contracts, and severed all ties with any Microsoft supplier or affiliate.
I may be a little utopian here, but try getting the MoD to give up all their computer hardware running Windows, or the NSA. I bet Microsoft doesn't own THOSE computers.
I have tools like this, and probably BETTER tools than distributed on this USB drive.
I'm doing it from a moral standpoint; I don't need a Microsoft PC to game, and that's all I use Microsoft software for. My new Mobile contract will come with a free PS3 so I can game all I want in Hi-Def, play DVD's etc, and i'll run Linux on a laptop / barebones PC because I don't need anything Microsoft offers.
I'm doing this to spite Microsoft; I may even stop buying games associated with Microsoft Studios, and I buy a lot of games. I simply object to this blatant display of total irrelavence to end-user satisfaction, and my way of saying "I am not ammused." will be to not use Microsoft products any more.
I know it's quite a hollow gesture, being only one person, but I'll be sure to add into my Objectives next year to research Open Source alternatives to Microsoft products in Primary and Secondary education. Losing £x00,000 in volume licensing for Windows Server, Client, Exchange, and Office applications is much more likely to be noticed.
N.B. the odd A with the circumflex doesn't appear in the editting box; I can't remove it.
Not at all. I simply pointed out that to mod a comment as Informative when it was clearly based on personal opinion and not factual evidence (Metallica having sold 650k units in the first week and is 15x Platinum) is obviously flawed.
Modding THIS post as 'Informative' is appropriate; It contains information pertinent to the discussion. Modding the (now great grand)parent 'Informative' was just daft.
The world is used to Windows. The world uses "Photoshop" as a synonym for photo-manipulation, "iPod" for MP3 player, and "virus" for any issue which could cause slowdown, crashes, or failure to boot. Unless there is a way to bridge this divide between the technically capable and the technologically uneducated, there will be no wide-scale market uptake of anything else.
Microsoft became popular by supporting as much hardware as possible, ensuring the file structure was easy to use (try telling your mum her DVD isn't located at D: but now at dev/cdrom).
When all is said, the less "Linux-like" Ubuntu is, the better. Linux outside of industry is a geeks' toy; The only reason you'd choose it is because you're a nerd. Anybody can get Windows, anybody can get any hardware they want to run on it. If Canonical can get Ubuntu to do that, I wouldn't care if it was exactly like Windows.
He also made a teleportation machine for The Great Danton.
Coincidently, if God heard about Teslas' machine, would he sue for Copyright infrengement?
Of course I represent everyone.

It's a text editor?
All this over which text editor to use?!
Fuel price in the UK has reached over £1.10 a litre and the world is worried about which application to use to edit text files.
Life = Epic Fail.
Ok, so what's not "Free" about Ubuntu?
I sure hope you didn't PAY for your download...
Is emacs better?
If not, what was the point? Isn't Ubuntu / Gobuntu good enough?
I thought Gobuntu was the Free Ubuntu project. Not saying that more than one is a bad thing, just that there seems to be a little crossover here.

I've no iterest in whether Wikipedia shows you in a favourable or defamatory light. As such, i'm willing to edit your posts for you, as you require.
I'll obviously be billing you for "consultancy", and do not guarantee any level satisfaction from this service.
I look forward to hearing from you,

I believe the point is that this key will allow access to data enctypted by the OS, not third party apps. Otherwise it's no better than a LiveCD.
N.B. SPECULATION.

It's not uproar at the fact that it's POSSIBLE, it's that Microsoft just dishes this stuff out.
Loading a live-cd and changing the Admin password on windows is a piece of piss; I've done it many a time. I object to it from a moral standpoint.

My PC is going on eBay.
I'll game on a console from now on, and get a laptop that is compatible with Ubuntu.
It's one of the fundamental rules of computer security; Physical access = Total access.

You're right, but isn't that what MS Video Editor did for YouTube?
