    Depends on your hardware.

If you have intel-everything, then its as simple as dropping in the CD, following the prompts, and you'll get a working system in 1-2 hours. The less intel, or 100%-intel-compatible, stuff you use, the more of a roulette wheel it is.

I hear that athlon, and even dual-athlon, systems work with it. but it depends on your motherboard, etc, etc.

There is a difference between "corporate IT overlords", and competant yet cautious system administration.

"corporate IT" in general, has its goals "reduce cost of system administration". which means, "how can I dumb down the systems, so that I then then deploy the DUMMEST TRAINED MONKEY I CAN FIND in the position of 'system administrator'"

On the flip side, there are competant sysadmin administrators, who know how to both keep the system locked down, AND help the developers do what they need to get done.

Unfortunately, the latter are extremely rare in large corporations, given the bottom line drive by "corporate IT", and particularly because the director of IT is some guy with a marketing degree, who likes hiring his cronies to report to him, reguardless of actual IT competance.
