Agreed, but this here is part of the problem. There is no magic panacea, if you want good work, you have to pay for good work, the higher-ups are just deluding themselves otherwise.
On the same note however, saying that their best get paid as much as our best is just silly. Whether that means we demand for to much compensation, or that they demand too low, is another story.
I do not think bothering with this dude's baiting is really productive. Right now, we DO know that we are better, or at least just as good. The problem here is that they are willing to work for significantly less. We either have to take a hit, or empower them to be properly compensated for their efforts.
Well it is not a rational assessment of right and wrong that he speaks of, but more of a feeling that something is right or wrong. I can justify any action any way i want, but at the end of the day, my justification and my conscience may be at odds.
Agreed, but i think that some believes this is just what is needed to go toe-to-toe with the DSi. The only problem is that DSi has INCREASED functionality, do that it can easily and comfortably replace DS if needed. The go does not have this luxury.
To be honest, i was REALLY hoping that Sony would have launched a new hand held. The PsP 1 is done, it fought valiantly and met much success, but they need to wash their hands of it and move forward.
Well, at least we know how the next Gen of Hardware will go. Meaningless revisions(though in the case of non-wii consoles, this is good)
I completely agree with just about all you have to say, but i take issue with the last part.
All three flaws that can be found in the free market can and are found in government, and i would not be surprised if you were called out on this very soon.
My take: It is becoming increasingly obvious that our problem is not which paradigm we foster, but how much we cling to it and how we implement it. Either Free-Market or Command economy could work perfectly fine if left unopposed and we actually wanted it to WORK and try to exploit it mercilessly. So in the end, it is human nature that is the issue. And i personally cannot see which system works best in the real world, as we have examples of failure and success of both.
But i do find it funny that everyone seems to be perfectly comfortable with applying absolutes to issues like this.
Oh wise one, give me an example that would work in today's television landscape.
Remember heroes?
They had the idea of introducing different heroes each season, and just moving on each time, but fans became too attached and the writers forced/stupidly adapted the story to something that would keep their audience.
The only thing that i see is that the writers should have had an endgame. TSCC should have been one large glorified advertising campaign for T4(one season long).
The writers could have put all that stuff in the season preceding the movie and then ended it, the quality would have been up and everyone would have been happy.
There was no way in hell TSCC could have lasted more than 60 episodes.
And that there is the point of the further explanation, disclaimers, cautionary tales, or legal proceedings. People are stupid, and while a nanny state is a stupid extreme, measures are needed to cover one's ass in the case that yet another member of our society has conveniently misplaced their common sense(every time you touch yourself, another person dons the dunce cap).
Though i suppose that the whole moral hazard issue comes into play, but that is why we(unfortunately not the government), have brains, to determine when it is good to risk it.
I for one, am glad that my overlords are christian

At least it is easier for me to hold my leaders accountable without incurring the wrath of the church...
Seriously though, this is insane. I can understand that there is an issue where giving too much free speech might give license to persecute, but this is absurd. When will the leaders of the world actually think before they act. I would cite the law of unintended consequences, but i am pretty sure that the mess to follow is completely intentional.
Yeah, i have that too, when i was fix experimenting with linux last week, that was the first partition i deleted(cannot have more than 4 primaries), the thing is flipping useless. Speaking of linux, I wonder if MS will just use linux for the limited OS, or will they start from scratch.
Yeah...you may have to get her checked out, that dog don't sound like she is right in the head.
This is one of those times that i am angry at myself for wasting my Mod points. Very good response sir!
Bad analogies all around.
The closest one i can think of would be taking 5 or 6 drinks and then walking home, but since you are too drunk to drive, they bust you anyway.
Heres the thing though, that is exactly what people will see. Change the UI up a bit, and they will come en masse to buy this 'new' OS.
Of course they will learn their mistake afterwards, but as the say, hindsight is 20/20.

The ionosphere has to go down. Now all we need is some sort of death ray, hmmm.
