I don't know why people hate Matrix 2/3 so much.
Other than being one half hour too long, I thought it was a fine science-based fiction, as good as any of the classic novels (I Robot, Foundation, 2001, Ender's Game).

Everyone has biases, and they are bound to make their way into the books. But when a group of people who have no business messing with textbooks in the first place go in with an agenda, that is a problem

No. His argument makes perfect sense. Perhaps he is not completely mindful of scope, but the basics apply. We are all expected to do our jobs 'perfectly' with little to no mistakes, the more 'important' your job is to society, the more is demanded of you.
Sure we are not perfect, but perfection will always be demanded of us and we have to do our best.
If the error popups were not so frequent and identical, people might actually care when one shows up.
This of course means having stuff that breaks less...

I hate to be one to preach how great mac and Linux are, but they are 'Inherently resistant'(Combination of obscurity and the lack of the porosity leading weak points to be mainly the user, and even then defending him/her from his/herself). There is a huge difference between that and immunity though.
I've always liked the formulation "the fitter *tend* to survive" rather than "survival of the fittest". You might be the fittest human being that ever lived, but if a boulder falls on your testicles before you have a chance to successfully breed, it's pretty damned irrelevant.

Call me crazy, but i would actually like for them to do nothing. Perhaps then apple will come to its senses and end this exclusivity crap and allow me to use an iPhone without being ATT's bitch. But knowing how these things work, ATT probably has exclusivity for a long time to come(did they not help fund the iPhone?).
Because despite the fact that google may be nice(for major corporation), they are not about to waste money fixing other peoples' fuck-ups without gain.
But last time i checked, all that stuff was optional, if you wish to take measures against being peeped on by google, you are free to do so.

I sort of agree with this, but i should point out that utilities are limited resources, and need to be apportioned appropriately. Internet is different as it is not limited unless many people are using it simultaneously. Using my water at 5 PM limits the amount of water available in 2 hours, using my internet does no such thing.
The above is why Internet prices have been falling as of late, but other utilities rarely change, and if they do, it is usually to increase. Remember that land lines are sort of a utility, but you are only ever charged extra when you call long distance.
Also remember that Cell phones are the best analogues for Internet. More often than not, cell phones get a limited amount of minutes for the busy parts of the day, but the restrictions are lifted at night/weekend, perhaps a similar thing should be adopted for internet.
Lastly, remember that this is NOT a bandwidth issue. Comcast already has a cap where they think it is economically feasible to start limiting users. This issue is more political than anything else as they throttle whether or not the user is an issue for their business or not.
My friend, have you seen the state of health care? Our banks? Our auto industry? Our consumer protection laws? Social Security?
Let us fix those first before we touch the tax system. Because none of the above fixes will be feasible after it is fixed.
Also, if the tax system is simplified, i doubt that the Government will take in less funds, it will just be more obvious that they are taking a lot.
Glad someone said it, there seems to be an illusion that welfare is sucking our government dry, when really it is one of the more efficient and effective entitlement programs we have, one of the few worth keeping IMHO
