I'm not convinced the freedom to not wear a seatbelt is really a freedom of any value and losing it isn't a real loss. I wear my seatbelt, and I would wear it even if the law did not demand it of me. I do it because I understand that it's in my interest to do so. However, I still resent being told that I must buckle up under penalty of law. I find it insulting to be ordered to do something that I would probably do anyway because I don't have shit for brains.

It is quite possible that the officer had a mindset to the effect that, hey this guy probably has a gun, and his or her mind see's what they wanted to see. I doubt that all of the cops who shot innocent people because they thought they saw a gun in his hands wanted to see a gun. Some of them were probably afraid that a gun was what they saw, and reacted to that fear. Remember the Wizard's First Rule: "People will believe a lie either because they want to believe it's true or because they are afraid it might be true."
  14. Alcohol amplifies this effect. on Scientists Find Believing Can Be Seeing · · Score: 1

The human mind sees what it wants to see while sober, and this tendency becomes even worse after a few drinks. That's why one should never look for a relationship while wearing beer goggles. It's hard enough to see through a woman's bullshit without booze clouding your judgment.

t comes down to the placement of the left thumbstick...you have to "reach" your thumb in order to use it effectively, whereas with a gamecube/xbox/360 controller, the way your hand naturally cradles the controller places your thumb EXACTLY where the the thumbstick is, no movement necessary. This enables better precision, more comfort, and less fatigue. I see where you're coming from, and I can understand why you and others would have problems with the Dual Shock controller. I've probably been lucky, as I've only experienced discomfort when playing the games I mentioned above. RPGs are no problem. Okami was no problem. Ratchet and Clank was no problem. Gran Turismo 4 was no problem. Devil May Cry on most difficulty modes was no problem.
