  1. BWAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

  2. This is exactly what I've been saying to my friends. You know George is coming from an honest place. Disney just wants to extract the cash from our wallets.

  3. Knowing Lucas's plans for the franchise "should make every Star Wars fan send a note of gratitude to whoever at Disney decided to buy the franchise and take it away and out from under Lucas' control."

    Disney is way worse.

  4. Yeah, I'm not sure why we keep letting you post comments?

I still pay for Netflix, Amazon Prime, & PS Vue. But I download all the shows I enjoy and put them on a personal media server just so I can have everything in one place for my viewing pleasure. I could very easily stop paying for all of those services and still keep watching whatever I want. But I can afford to do so and the cost is still far far less than paying for straight up cable.

Does an ISP like Comcast have the ability to provide different services to different regions or even individual homes? It sure seems so to me since I have standard internet speeds while my neighbor gets their high speed internet. So it should be no problem for them whatsoever to follow the laws of each state in regards to access. Or am I wrong in this line of thought?

As a daily user of both Reddit and Slashdot for many long years I can easily say that Reddit has the far superior layout which is far easier to read and interact with of the two. Also, Slashdot denizens are much much closer to 4chan dwellers than anyone here wants to admit to. So my question to you is this. If you found Reddit so distasteful, then why do you hang around here?

As I mentioned to another poster. I don't think the US populace is willing to make this kind of sacrifice just so we can extricate ourselves out of middle east affairs. I also feel that a lot of people here wouldn't do it based on moral and religious grounds.

Oh I wouldn't ever assume that we couldn't do it. I believe that this country can literally do almost anything when properly motivated. But when it comes to giving up a lot of comforts and cheap goods for our complete withdrawal from middle east affairs? I think that's an impossible sell.

  17. It's not 100% Ray Tracing. on Ask Slashdot: How Did Real-Time Ray Tracing Become Possible With Today's Technology? · · Score: 1

All the companies that announced this and the media that is reporting on it all gloss over the fact that the Ray Tracing that is being talked about is supplementary the standard rasterized shading engines. We aren't going to be getting 100% ray traced scenes. We'll get rasterized scenes with things like reflections and shadows being ray traced. This will fix the issue that rasterization has where objects outside of the viewing frustum are computationally ignored. 100% ray tracing is still a pipe dream with the current hardware standards that most consumers have.
