..the most serious injury at the school to date involved a parent, who was hit in the head by a soccer ball and suffered a concussion.
If that parent can suffer a concussion from a soccer ball kicked by a kid then they need to wear a helmet whenever they leave the house. Don't punish everybody else for having a skull made out of jello.
...it removes a significant danger of premarital sex...
2,800 deaths a year from cervical cancers (%70 of 4,000 total, since the vaccine doesn't even protect against all of them) is hardly 'significant'. For the $400 price tag, I could probably find better uses for that money to protect my kids. Hell, more people die drowning each year. I could use the money for life vests and swim lessons, and it would be better protection. This vaccine is just a push by the pharmaceutical companies to make more money.
after being flooded with calls from German men saying they refused to take directions from a woman.
For real? Not only were these men pissed off about taking direction from a computerized woman's voice, but they also felt it necessary to call BMW to bitch about it. And then, BMW took these tools seriously enough to recall the cars? This just has to be a urban legend.
The sooner you stop thinking that there are no differences between the parties,...
How large are the blinders that you are wearing that allowed you to overlook the fact that a Democrat president signed the extension? Or that 80% of Democrat senators voted for it? Or that the Democrats didn't bother to throw this piece of shit law out when they had full control for two years?
...why not do some actual research into the positions and voting records of your candidates?
Oh, sweet irony...
...the sooner you can realize that your vote actually does make a difference.
I already do realize that, which is why neither of these two parties get my vote.
Could you please read a post before responding to it. I never said "You should always vote for the (R) instead of the (D)". I only wish people would look at, you know, the actual candidate before voting! Listen to Jerry Brown talk for more than two minutes and you would realize that he is a completely senile old loon. Why anybody would pick him over Meg is beyond me.
Because we, inexplicably, vote for whoever has the (D) next to their name, regardless of who that person is. Not to say that ol' Meg Whitman was a great alternative, but we elected a crazy old man who already screwed up this state the first time around!
I might be supportive of them if I knew what the hell they were there for. I suppose their point is that they don't like Wall Street. But what do they think their protest is going to accomplish? Wall Street will up and disappear?
I also can't stand how they think that they speak for 99% of Americans ("We are the 99%!") Comes off as a little smug and self-righteous.
Trying to find out more about the "99%" (http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/) just leads to a website where people post pictures of handwritten notes complaining about things that don't seem to be related to Wall Street. The most common seems to be about student loan debt:
One woman has 100k in debt by graduation? Geez, what were you thinking?
Another 42 year-old man owes 40k. Um, you either should have had this paid off by now, or maybe should have saved up to go to school?
Another with 140k! Jeez, have any of you heard of community college?
And perhaps my favorite was the woman complaining about 50k in debt after seven years in college!
Some other complaints were a woman who lost her husband to a heart attack (due to the stress of unemployment?), and another moron who thought it was a good idea to have eight(!) kids on a salary of 40k/year.
All these ramblings make it tough to know what to make of this 'occupation'...
The Act was passed in the House by 357 to 66 (of 435) and in the Senate by 98 to 1 and was supported by members of both the Republican and Democratic parties.
Both parties started this, and both parties have continued to support this act. (You'll notice that the Dems didn't repeal this when they had full control of the House, Senate, and Presidency). The sooner you stop thinking there is an 'us' and 'them' when it comes to the two parties, the better off you will be.
I use Sonic.net as my ISP, and this is one of the reasons. They actually give a shit about their customers. I could probably get AT&T DSL for less, but I'm going to continue to support this company.
Which is routinely trampled on for something as simple as "you're blocking traffic"
I agree with your post, except for this statement. How is blocking traffic considered 'speech'? Why would I need to block traffic as part of exercising my right to free speech?
By signing the contracts, the buyers agreed to waive claims for repairs except those specifically mentioned in a separate document, which was available for inspection at a separate location and not before or at the time they bought the houses.
I'm amazed that the courts would uphold part of a contract that... isn't part of the contract. That 'separate document' could be literally anything. Show up the day before signing the contract and see one 'separate document'. Show up with a warranty claim after the sale and see a different document. How would you be able to prove that the document is different if it isn't part of the contract, and you don't have your own copy of it???
I know that in California you can skip buying insurance if you are willing to leave a $35k cash deposit with the DMV. It's just that most people would rather fork over the money for insurance instead.
Well, hell, I'm NOT mandated to not kill people. The government just sends me to jail if I do...
You know that 50% of americans that don't pay taxes? Almost all of them that make more than 50k a year do it by having a home and taking the tax breaks related to owning a home.
I'm having trouble understanding how 'almost all' of the lower 50% income earners make over 50k when the average income is under 50k.
No one will be turned away from an emergency room.
And that's the big problem. Only EMERGENCIES should be treated at an emergency room. If we would start turning away people that show up for non-emergencies, we wouldn't have so many ERs going under.
He was supposed to pay $1200 for a license to handle this chemical and refused.
Paying for the 'license' keeps this chemical out of meth labs... how?
He was asked to keep tabs on who bought the product to the extent that he would report "suspicious" bulk purchasers. He refused.
It doesn't sound like he was 'asked', since when he refused, they forbade him the chemical. Asking implies that you have the choice to say yes OR no.
The DEA asked him for proof that he has security where his product is made to keep people from stealing the active ingredient.
Don't you think he might start worrying about security if he starts getting this stuff stolen?
...doesn't want to deal with the government bureaucracy...
The bureaucracy that requires him to pay money, add security that he doesn't seem to need, and force him to snitch on customers?

Why are you standing for this, Cali?
Because we, inexplicably, vote for whoever has the (D) next to their name, regardless of who that person is. Not to say that ol' Meg Whitman was a great alternative, but we elected a crazy old man who already screwed up this state the first time around!
Too far out on the edge of town to get it (yet) :-(

HOT (High Occupancy Toll, not HOV Or Toll) HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) They are two separate types of lanes.
So, I am allowed to say whatever is approved by everybody else ahead of time? Awesome.
What was the cost of all the unnecessary tests and exams so a doctor can cover their ass every which way they possibly can?
...if you sign some tort limitation form.
Riiiiight, because nobody has ever sued even after signing a 'waiver'.
...version control is necessary for all vital data, be it code or baby pictures....
How many versions of a particular picture would one have?
...start turning away people that show up for non-emergencies...
So who is going to pick up the dead bodies of the people who bleed out and die on the streets because they were turned away from the ER?
I'm curious as to your theory on how non-emergency situations lead to dead bodies.
Depends on a lot of factors:
Amount of mortgage interest (higher than standard deduction)?
Property taxes (if any, for that jurisdiction).
Also, your landlord probably has mortgage interest that he gets to deduct, thus lowering the rent he needs to charge you to make a profit.
Tax to the government =! payment to a private company

How is it any different than people who are taxed more for not owning a home
People are not taxed less for owning a home.
