You forget that we are having a lack of success in Iraq and Afghanistan right now because of our past successes in those countries. During the cold war we(the US and allies) had our special forces over there teaching them how to fight against the Russians. Osama Bin Laden and other leaders of Al Qeada were trained by our own black ops people, and Sadam had a degree from a US collage. They took the stuff that we taught them and are using it against us in support of their own ideology. They are doing the same thing that most of the worlds other leaders are, enforcing their way of life and view points on anyone and everyone else by whatever means they can get away with.
Just looking at the first few pages I'd say it's real. This is the first time that I've seen this particular manual, but it's set up just like all of the other Training manuals, Technical Manuals, and just about every other Military manual that I've read. And I know my TMs, I was the publications NCO for my unit in Korea. Most of the manuals that I dealt with were not so restricted as this one but that is just because of the type of unit that I was in. The only ones that had limited distribution were the one's dealing with vehicle weapon systems repair.
You make a valid point that it damages the artistic industries as they are now. But that doesn't make the punishment fit the crime. There have been many advances that damaged the then current industries but those that survived where better off and better able to adapt to the new environment. Also art does not have to be economically feasible, art should be created for art's sake and the fact that the artist loves what they do. Having an economic benefit is just an added bonus if people are willing to pay/trade for it. Art that is made only for an economic benefit quickly deteriorates while the artists that create for creations sake will almost always improve and, subsequently; their art will have more value.
$15 for low "bytes per month" users
$30 for medium
$45 for high
$100 for unlimited More likely it would be

They would charge this under the premise of upgrade costs then not do any up grades, or only upgrade in affluent neighborhoods. Your general customer would end up with a low tier plan for what they are paying now. Even if the plans don't start at these prices they will get there in one or two years. Look at the justifications for price hikes that they've given in the past; almost always upgrade costs, but how many customers have actually seen hardware or infrastructure upgrades happen in their neighborhoods. All I've seen happening are repairs, and then only after enough complaints have gone in.
For some interesting Macintosh criticism, you should check out Buttobi CPU:I Dream of Mimi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buttobi_CPU. Just be warned there is some objectionable content. Definitly not for everyone but the Apple Macintosh Quadra, Centris and Performa systems are the bad guys.
This will be great news as long as there is no settlement. Even if a settlement is offered the case should go ahead and have all of these companies policies made public. I don't know if this is possible though(I'm not a lawyer); but if it was me, I wouldn't settle.
Don't know about you but those energy drinks just give me a major case of heart burn. All that caffeine and other crap does is act like acid in my belly. But I can drink Mountain Dew all day with no problems.
The convenience of streaming could be enough to override owning a physical copy; but with steaming the media companies would want to make you pay each time you decide you want to watch/stream the content. Owning the physical copy you only pay once and can use/watch it as many times as you like. Unfortunately, the way DRM is going the media companies are going to try this with physical content soon. You buy the Blu-Ray disc and can watch it a set number of times then it will be locked down by whoever the player has to contact to decode and play it unless you pay for more VIEWING RIGHTS. MS Windows is already that way, you can only activate the program so many times(re-install on the same system) before it locks you out and you have to use their customer service to get a new activation number.
The OS-tan's where not made by M$, and the owners of the art probably wouldn't sell to them any way. Just think, if M$ got a hold of the rights to the M$-tan's you'd have to pay to use anything related. Not to mention that there are OS-tans for Linux, Apple, all the game systems, and many individual programs.
Try reading the Koran(Muslim) and the Torah(Jewish). They all have the same basic message told from slightly different view points. In fact if you take them and the bible as one whole story you get a more complete idea of what they are about. Taking offense to Christianity being likened to Islam is like taking offense to Gala Apples being likened to Granny Smith Apples. Each one has it's own flavor and people that prefer one over the other; but, they are both apples.
What we need is for this country to get back to what it was supposed to be, for the people. Proposals like this do not have the interest of the US Populous in mind. This kind of proposals and the laws that result from them are of no benefit to most people, only the corporations that buy them.
What I'd like to know is what would it take to make Corporate Lobbying illegal. Corporate lobbyists only have the interests of their sponsor Company in mind and not what is best for this country. All these lobby groups do is bribe elected officials into passing the things. Also any politician that does not cast their vote the way the majority of the people they represent want, they should be removed from office and charged with criminal offenses. Almost all of the current people in office say whatever the voters want to hear then dance to the tune of whatever corporate sponsor paid to get them into office.
the gameplay of both versions would be the same regardless of the DRM.
I beg to differ. If the DRM was like this it would definitely make the gameplay different. You forget that we are having a lack of success in Iraq and Afghanistan right now because of our past successes in those countries. Not sure why that was off topic. I thought it was a valid question.
I was wondering if anyone else had caught that. :)
