I do not remember where I read it. Yes, the origin of google is "Go ogle" it is also a pun: a googol is a large number, actually a 1 with 100 xeroes or 1*10^100
it has also been seen in print to refer to making faces at babies. "google at infants" or making googlie eyes.
How do you describe cookie monsters eyes? They are googlie!!
though they seem to have disappeared, they built a modular architecture. want x86? slap in an x86 processor daughter board. Want a sparc? slap in a sparc daughter card. too bad apple didn't want to play. they were all ready to go with MAC daughter cards too.
my kids, my cousins, and my siblings. Three different age groups that grew up in completely different surroundings.
At a recent wedding I watched as my cousin sat and ate EXACTLY like my son and sister do.
they walk with the same heavy foot steps. they whine about the same thing. they have the same low pain thresholds they basicly suck.
Not only do they look alike they act alike such that they could easily pass off for each other (save for the age differences.)
freaky freaky freaky.
It was this realization that allowed me to see why and how my son drives me up the wall. He has the same exact mannerisms as my oldest brother and baby sister.
make the service free to play. Give currently paying people credits to use toward future modules - this guarantees you will have people using the new pay for modules.
put real-world advertising in the virtual world have Pepsi and Coke vending machines have billboards for Guess jeans have VW beetles. most every SIM product should be backed by a real product.
make it paid for by virtual ads that are as prevalent as they are in the real world.
NO POP UPS!!! - unless the sim is using a computer heh.
make it paid for by advertising and you get past the biggest hurdle - getting people to try it.
Then, release modules and open up the code so that other folks can make modules.
keep ownership of the server/service but let the power players play.
alas, imacs have no pci slots. and the rooms do not have phone lines. I may just have to go wall fishing. Yummmm. 300yr old horse hair and rat droppings.
researched the product and read the docs. Why am I limited to two devices as bridges but as many as I want as nodes?
What is the underlying design flaw that is in the way here?
I want to get one for each of my kids iMacs and one at the switch. (total 3) it is easier than running cables and wireless sucks in my folks old house due to horse hair plaster lath walls.
Why does a T1 cost $500-1000 US/month? If I were to run my own fiber pairs to wire up my town, there would be a fixed cost for time and materials. There would then be the recurrent costs to maintain.
If the next town over did the same thing we could then agree to talk to each other and connect our networks. WDYK...peering. Remember how the net used to work? friends routing to friends.
Add on the next towns on either of our sides and so on.
Each town incurs it's own cost to setup and operate. Optionally taxing the citizens to cover it. (or uses some improvement fund which would attract more people/businesses etc...)
Once the network is in place. There would be power and maintenance costs. There are no "bandwidth" or "metered usage" costs.
What, for existing telco's, are the true costs associated with their network. Not including ANY profit margins or marketing.
Why do you need marketing if it is a municipality run service that connects to the neighboring municipalities?
Manchester NH is embarking on a plan wire the town with fiber. Next step is to get folks to run the network and peer with the neighbor towns.
There once was a plugin or tool you could download that allowed multiple people to annotate (more like put graffiti on) a web page. Other people with the same tool could then view the annotations.
I remember being held in that damn scale! It was so cold on my back and My head hit hard. I rember another visit and that same scale but I could sit in it now and hold the side.
I remember the large toy room at a store my mom would go to. It was a jewelers I think and the toy room was a 2x3 foot closet.
I remember taking baths in the kitchen sink and swimming in the water.
I remember being in my playpen.
I remember feeling my sister kick through my moms fat belly
I also have a flase memory. I remember seeing a large seesaw wrapped up sitting on top of my bureau.
I know this is false because years later I saw pictures of it and they were my memoryt of it. We had the toy before I was born my exposure to it was in the photo albums.
figure your average weekly hours worked. (5dx9-10h) Be sure to include all office hours (.5 - 1.5h) plus commuting time (5dx1-3h off hours research time at home (~4-8h) weekend time on pet projects to keep skills sharp ~57.5-77.5 Total hours per week.
expect about 48 work weeks (2wk vaca,1 wk sick, 1wk holidays)
hours worked = 2760-3720 hours/yr Figure over your career you will go from 32K-120K A nice average of 76K/yr
basicly what is created is the center of a star or planet. The physical spheres are used to focus energies which create the necessary field structures to contain one another and they then force further contraction until their own "gravity" causes them to fuse.
I do belive the latest theory of why the earth gives off heat is due to a sustained fusion reaction in the center of the planet. Could this be just the proof of such a posibility?
A properly equipped van parked in your driveway can intercept the broadcast coming from your video tube. They then can record it for future replay at a time and place of their choosing.

Dude(ette?), Maybe you should upgrade to 2.0 and test it out again. I think your case would be a valuable pice of information.
Wouldn't it be nice if I could pick up a simple kit that would get me a 2 to 5 mile radius around my base station. One that didn't require me to hold a directional antenna and GPS to properly aim it.
Maybe setting up N*(directional antennas) with 360/N degrees coverage would be better?
Or put a passive "repeater" WPOP into every car. Put an omnidirectional antenna on the roof and we could have WPOPs all over the interstate.
I would run one if it let me surf in traffic. And believe me, there will always be traffic jams. Bounce your signal through a few cars till you get to someone's excess bandwidth landline based system.
Heck, the phone company could put a base station at every rest stop with a payphone. Just pull into the parkinglot to get better bandwidth.
If you make every box also have a caching proxy (squid) and a large harddisk (IBM 150Gb =200$) you would be able to do what AOL did to save bandwith costs. CACHE EVERYTHING
Of course you would have to encrypt all outgoung data and use SSL on sites that matter.
(without reading the article of course} I ask a simple wuestion of the slashdot brain trust(tm)-
Why?
Why is building your own transmitter ilegal? Who decided that any government "owns" the radio spectrum? Who gives this organization such power to control the "airwaves"?
It would be nice if they could settle on a schedule. They introduced a bunch of mature comics and then went and shuffled them around. I understand that January was supposed to be when the newer schedule was launched. Why was InuYasha ALREADY on twice in a row this weekend? ( I liked it but it was not supposed to be till Jan.)
I am psyched that they have many more series. They just don't have to slam them through. Take the lesson from SouthPark and others. Show last weeks show AND this weeks show this week. This keeps folks caught up that would otherwise drop out after missing a key episode.
20 years ago UHF25 in boston got it right with ForceFive. Each weekday had it's own speficic 30min show. PLUS 30min of starblazers (their big hit) Not sure if it was new one day/wk, reruns the rest. Just expand this concept to a 2-4 hour block.
I am still waiting for the rental stores to have as much anime as there is in the record stores. (record stores? what're those?)
SamGoodie has more anime this fall than I have ever seen in one place. Why can't blockbuster etc. get a real anime section? They don't really need to have 10 copies of each. 2-5 of each series would be fine. (Heck there are 5 blockbusters within 10 miles so they could each carry one So long as they have a public accessible linked availability system.)
NOTE TO TOONAMI:: DO NOT CENSOR THE ANIME
The block is called ADULT swim. If it is on CABLE the FCC has no say about "adult scenes, language, nudity) Only if it is on airwaves. It starts at 10:PM any parent who lets an impressionable kid watch at 10:PM deserves to have their trailer burned up in a pseudo beavis-copycat way. (yeah right - your kid - who has always been allowed to light fires in the living room - was copying BnB when he torched the trailer. I must have missed that episode.)
If you want to include transformers and GIJOE in the block, start at 8:PM with them. Don't waste my adult time on shows for kids who should already be asleep.
