First you fix what you can. Imagine somebody is having a lot of trouble catching a baseball, and it turns out they have the glove on the wrong hand. First, you tell them to put the glove on the correct hand (something anybody can achieve). You don't start by telling them they should "get better" (which is not something that everybody can just do).
No I haven't ever owned a Blackberry or Android phone with a locked down bootloader.
And I don't put any personal information in my microwave oven, or TV set, or HD set top box. Or my et al. ad nauseum either.
The thing that bothers me the most about the semi(?)-trust that major carriers have is text message pricing. I have a tracfone, and I pay roughly $0.03 per text sent or received (using att's network no less), and similar prices can be achieved with a texting package. If it's not price fixing, it certainly is price gouging (7 times the price because I don't have a texting plan? please).
I got a tracfone for the same reason, and it works great. One rate, although text messages do get pricey (each message sent/read =.3 minutes), and when my old phone took a swim I just called them and I think came out of it with more minutes on my new phone than I had in the first place. So no, I don't think you'll get screwed.
"In what could be a first Microsoft is working to create a special build of Windows, just because Windows doesn't run very well on a certain computer."
That's odd, I didn't think my old computer was an Eee pc. Wait... that means... oh.
"Why doesn't Texas float away into the Gulf of Mexico? Because Oklahoma SUCKS!"
Now, my fellow Texans, you may be worried that a leak in the hose could cause them to lose their powerful vacuum, but in fact it's only served to multiply the sucktion! We're safer than ever!
"I neither will aspire to nor will I accept -- I repeat -- I neither will aspire to nor will I accept, the position of president of the council of state and commander in chief,"
Looks like they left out the rest of the quote:
"Say 'ello to my little brother"
According to Marcel Leonardi, the company's public policies director, Google News channels a billion clicks to news sites around the world.
Let me know when you can channel a brazillion clicks to news sites, then we'll talk.
Why seed clouds when you can seed earthquakes?

This reminds me of a Herbert book where the Guild wanted a prohibitive price for weather satellites.
They'd probably rather be at war with the Mexican government than the US government.

I would argue that I generate more traffic now than 20 of these typical future households.

The article's not quite right; funding came from revenue generated by the football program, and we've currently got it aimed at Norman, Oklahoma
The design wasn't even any good. One blaster shot and they're finshed!
