Primarily if your using one of the original pentium processors that had the rounding error and your using very large values of 2

Instead of pointing out that there are systems that are primarily built for audio use (specialty audio systems used for recording, or even CD MP3 players)

...today, I came to the realization of how exactly M$ has hurt business. One of my additonal duties at my place of business is to install the new updates, service packs, patches that M$ releases. No big deal, just slow...very slow...( systems 200mhz and below should not be running NT 4.0 w/ SP6 and O2K IMHO).

But anyway....I'm installing the O2K SP1 fixes, or trying to....and it starts trying to find files that aren't there.

So I find out eventually, that of the 9 systems I maintian for my shop, all but one will have to have O2K uninstalled and reinstalled with all the default generic settings. Then run the SP1, and some other little patch.

3 Hours later I finally have 3 of the systems done. (I had a meeting in there too though).

If the millitary (who I work for) is as concerned about security and saving man hours as they say, why can't we get decent computers, and more importantly decent software?

Ok that will way off topic...feel free to mod.

While I do not agree with many of M$'s practices nor do I particularly like there products, without Microsoft, how far would personal computing have evolved?

M$ did bring PCs more into the mainstream. Unfortunatly they also brought more (l)users in as well, but in doing so, look at the price comparisons (for hardware and such). M$ did make it easy for people of average intelligence and far below to use computers, and thus increased the damand. They were useful in their innoveate and embrace attitude *(unfortunatly that was followed by 'Extinguish')*.

Do I still still think they're guilty? Yes
