  1. Re:It's a battle and not the war.. on ACLU Wins, No Sexting Charges For NJ Teens · · Score: 5, Interesting

This actually happened to me when I was a high-school student... Back before the internet crash, when you could get domain names for free, a friend of mine wanted to put a website up of his balls, just his balls, at jasonsballs.com (made-up first name). He was 16 and I was 17. I registered the site and drew up the html, with jasonsballs.com in big red letter, a single gif of his ballsack, and an angelfire counter. A few days later and a coupl e thousand hits later, I'm in the administrative office at my highschool with the police. They asked me about it and I explained what we had done (mistake of course). After a bit of time both of us were charged with "Pandering Obscenity of a Minor" or some such charge, a 5th degree felony. After months of lawyers talking, we finally had a court date. 5 minutes in, when an actual judge saw the case, he dismissed it immediately. Nevermind the thousands of dollars in attorney's fees that we had to pay.

I had an idea to call the ACLU at that time but thought that media exposure might hurt me in the long run, now I regret not calling them.

Anyway, this seems like a similar situation and hopefully competent decisions like this will continue to be made.

But I would think that out of everyone involved with the article, who would seem to have an interest in having the correct information, somebody would take the initiative to get a correction published. As those sources are credible enought to be cited, then they should be credible enough to judge your evidence.

Someone should send the scan to the websites, along with an explanation about the situation.

The reason everyone doesn't grow food in their gardens, is because gardens take work, land, water, soil, and other investments. That is nothing like typing "adobe torrent" in google and you have your software in 10 minutes.

That way you deprive them of the sale, but they still have the groceries to sell to someone else

I think more people are becoming disenchanted with purely idealistic capitalism as you are, and change is always good.

In reference to your point about european countries, I believe from my own observations that atleast one of those countries (Germany) has an unsustainable social net. If you haven't already, you may want to research some of the economic turmoil that Germany has, and their inability to produce enough children to support their elderly (and resulting monetary incentives to procreate). They may have a comprehensive healthcare system, but in my experience the quality of care is poor, being even lower quality than U.S. HMO care. Also I believe their unemployment rate is rather high. The euro has also gone down.

Nevermind the political system, the economic policy, or whatever ideal your government may have: The fundamental problem in all governments is corruption, certainly not the least the USA. Unfortunately, it's also about the only guaranteed unsolvable problem... yet the only relatively important one.

In fact isn't that the whole point of modding a troll -- that the poster is just trying to aggravate folks and you mod it troll so people see that it's bait? If you have the feeling that someone is trolling but you don't mod them because they could be genuine, then no one would ever get called out on their bait.

In addition, your post really wasn't very constructive. You seemed to be calling the guy a political extremist just for a few sentences that really don't indicate anything other than that he has money or feels he may have money in the future.

Also, in regards to your request for a reprimand: do you really expect someone to blow all the mod points they've used for the topic just to tell you you're a jerk? It's alot easier just to click troll. Just my take...
