I would have no problem at all if they simply moved the show to 'look how cool physics is!' As long as that's what they billed the show as. And as long as they weren't trying to be all overblown about it.
At the beginning of the show, it was 'lets see if Hollywood special effects can be done without using special effects. No. Now here's how the special effects were done.'
Then, for a while, it was actually busting myths.
Now, it's 'Does physics actually work?' I stopped watching when I saw an episode where they were challenging the assertion that, given a vehicle moving at 30 mph, with a rear-facing air cannon that would shoot at tennis ball at 30 mph, the ball, when fired from the moving vehicle, would simply drop.
Because that turns wikipedia into a Myspace/Facebook clone, where every 2-bit garage band, every marketing campaign, and every nut is free to abuse Wikipedia's services to push their self-image, desilugions and agenda.
Again, what is wrong with that?
Either that, or somebody needs to mark 'The Encyclopedia Everyone Can Edit' and every such claim on Wikipedia 'citation needed.'
Exalted a) has that exact concept baked in, and b) has full-on Super-Saiyan level combat rules for diplomacy. Hell, for changing your party's minds about where to go for dinner, if you really want.
Don't forget my personal favourite, Whoopi Goldberg, on The View, on the topic of Roman Pulanski drugging a 13 year old girl, then ass-fucking her: 'It wasn't rape rape.'
Society A is violent by culture. Therefore, the people who survive and propser, and pass on their genes, in Society A, are those who are better at giving and receiving violence; physical attributes, mental attributes, etc etc.
Society A eventually moves towards a less violent culture. But would the genetics not still be there, unless and until they were actively selected against?
Normally I'd say Google is the common carrier, but seeing as how they've done something here, they are now legally responsible for all content carried on all of their services. Ooops.
You know, I've always wondered if the fact that 'only a sith deals in absolutes' line was actually intended as an indicator that the Jedi were seriously fucked in the philosophy department, or if the writers (Lucas?) just didn't realize that it was an absolute statement.
By that logic, if all you need is 'trust,' why have trials? Can't we 'trust' that the police got the right man? Can't we 'trust' that the DA has his facts in order?
Nothing GPL'd is free. They expect payment in the form of new code, and word-of-mouth advertising (you must make available the code, leave the GPL boilerplate on, yadda yadda).
You state that there is no 'center,' extreme, liberal, conservative, left, right, etc etc.
I find this odd, as 'left,' 'right,' 'liberal' and 'conservative' are political definitions. It's like saying there's no such thing as 'sweet' versus 'sour.'
The American system, of course, boils lib and con down to absurd extremes, and assumes an all-or-nothing take; pro choice? you're also pro gun control, etc etc.
Then you categorize some choices as 'evil.' Can you expound on that a bit?
Yes, straight-ticket voting is horrid. But again, in a multi-party system, things tend to balance out towards the center. In a first-past-the-post system, the two sides are encouraged to move to the extremes.
Actually, I'm a proud socialist of Canuckistan. And our system certainly has it's quirks and foibles (and outright stupidities) as well, don't get me wrong.
It's better principles, maybe, but it also guarantees that your vote is tossed away.
The system, as is, is designed to not allow third parties to win. Therefore, by voting third-party, you're implicitly not voting for a candidate that could actually win.
Like I said in another post, change the system. Somehow.
Well, America kinda half-asses it. One one hand, it's a republic, whereby you elect representatives. On the other hand, you vote directly on various propositions and what not. It's bloody weird.
Said nukes being, amusingly, invented by a bunch of immigrants.
A cat's purpose in life is to wage psychological warfare upon you; it's only right and proper that you retaliate in kind.
Dogs are for companionship. Cats are to keep you on your toes.

Old reference is old, I guess. Tom Clancy did it.
Probably going to intercept cell phone transmission from Columbian drug cartels.

You'd love Exalted, then.

Fuck yes. I still have my a3d2 card.
Hey, at least you're not leveraging synergy to effect a value-add win-win amoung thought-leaders, increasing mindshare and gaining net.
Ah, but perhaps culture drives evolution?

Forget B5, reboot Captain Power.
Mine nags me every time there's an update released. There's no unattended update option, but that makes sense for a NAS.

Seriously? He's talking about a video game, not nuclear disarmament treaties.
The Googles are broken for you, are they?
Go find an early printing of D&D, and look for halfings. You won't find them. You'll find hobbits, though.
