I always thought the reason Microsoft tripped up competition was because of Gates' die hard business strategy and willingness to stop at nothing to get what he wants. Obviously that model served him very well.
Ballmer's seems to be a little different. Historically from what I've seen, he seems more open to competition. Gates always struck me as snoody towards it (i.e. "Yea, every kid in a garage can put me out of business. I'd like to see them try."), whereas Ballmer would say, "Yea, every kid in a garage can put me out of business. I sweat bullets because of them."
I agree, we should welcome Microsoft to the modern world of software. We may all be stealing code from each other, but Gates' Open Letter didn't stop it- free code came before Microsoft's closed source strategy and will live long after it. Microsoft either joins the program or fizzles out like Unix proper did.
The best thing I can come up with off the top of my head is get a light controlled room, and place a thin mirror (clean mirror, very clean mirror) in the pages... and photograph the image on the mirror when you get it at the right angle... Maybe.
I'm glad you can think so selfishly. My brother happens to be over in Iraq now, and doesn't have a reliable internet connection and his job is to sit in a tent in the desert supervising Iraqi soldiers once every other day...
It's not that they don't need to relax (after all, spending months away from home in a war torn zone isn't that bad), but rather some of them would maybe prefer to play video games every once in a while as opposed to jerking off with their buddies?
I know my brother is annoyed with not playing his Steam games, and I'm sure that group of military folks complaining about not having an internet connection have a completely valid complaint.
And yes, there's nothing to be concerned about when you have legit software, but it's annoying when you can't use the software so that the company making it can squeeze more money out of their software.
Mod parent up. 4shiz.
I agree. Compiz-Fusion totally ripped Microsoft's patents to the desktop cube idea.
I just forgot how to enable it in Vista Ultimate...
Dead and gone like HPUX and UNIX.

three words are really slow
What happens when something like the DNS exploit is applied to Midori?
Is the mammoth losing the front on software, realizing the recent futilities in software patents... and moving on to challenge the hardware market? :O
It shuts off from being ran for 4 hours to completely off in 4 seconds!
Didn't they call that the Code Red worm?
I think you forgot:

Isn't this the sort of thing gentoo linux was made for (and not used for anymore)?
Amen.
...umm... GTKPod? It works perfectly with my 3rd gen nano...
It won't be. Don't you know that Apple prefers shiny aluminium and aethetically pleasing chrome and plastic?

The next step is figuring out how to upload that much each day.
Well, you'll know if they've broken in when you come home and all of a sudden see Windows XP on your machine!
Which is exactly why you aren't the one getting $500!
...isn't it supposed to be the other way around? irony.
That was supposed to be nested to a reply to the comment this is replying to. Who kills the humor? I do, I do!
Obviously you haven't used a MacBook as a laptop...
So me being gay, that's why I can't get the boys? Girls are crawling all over me? Oh wait...
I guess something is better than nothing? Does this mean the govn't values Fermi for at least another few days of operation?
April fools was a few months ago, guys.. ...right?
http://xkcd.org/424/ No, but it seems to work with Vista!
