why would one buy a song which you can only play in windows (on a computer with those noisy fans and harddisks) ? i only (if ever) would consider buying a song online if i had a chance of copying it to a cdr and listen to it without a computer.
so... would joe dumb-user buy more songs over the net after his first "oops. windows blew up and all my songs are gone. (what's a backup?)"-experience? would joe dumb-user even find this "crack"???
then the industry would have no chance to sell their music because no one would buy them.
yep. it may BE old, but the idea itself: a network-transparent windowing-system, where it does not matter on which computer you start the application is just so damn cool... i can't describe.
example: a friend of mine woke up and realized he forgot to scan a picture... but he was late and if he had scanned the pic he would have missed his train. so what did he do? since he had a leased-line he lay the pic in his scanner and drove to work. in work he logged in his computer at home, fired up the gimp, scanned the pic.:-) so damn cool.
if there will be ever a new windowing-system it MUST have the flexibility of X or it will be worthless.
tried it with a desktop-calculator (liquid-crystal- display) and removed the film in front of the glass with the liquid in it. then you only can see the digits if you place the previously removed film in front of your eyes. ff this principle is usesd in this displays then you can build one on your own. just remove the film... done.
i think it's the feature: "look into boot-sector and if theres a string called WIN95 or WIN4.0 then activate plug&play otherwise do not"

i once read about a harddisk with 2 r/w or one r/w and a seperate r head.
you can even have 2 ide or scsi-ports on one harddisk with this technology. i think they use one of those harddisks. otherwise the device would become anoyingly loud at playback+recording.
i'm for XFree[0-9A-Za-z]?\s4
