Numerous fields of human endeavor kill, maim, or cripple far more animals and humans, to far less benefit, than science, and somehow get away with less scrutiny and opposition. Why is science the target?
Because science is (for the most part) open and honest. The things you talk about aren't, or are for our "security".
Think about it: by creating a myth about climate change you are creating thousands of jobs, gradually losing your dependence on foreign countries' oil, and encouraging ingenuity. Not to mention a crap-load of excuses for tax. It's a smart little scam, I must admit. I think the only reason why America took so long to change was because of them having so many lobbyists from the fossil-fuel brigade.
You, my friend, are a genious. As my best friend L. Ron Hubbard once said: "You don't get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion."
Sounds more like Slashdot's mod system, where Linux Zealots can pat themselves on the back with +5 Insightful "Linux is awesome" posts, thereby gaining the power to squash anyone who might be "Pro-Microsoft".
And the windows retards can do the same for windows posts. But you see, the windows retards know not to hang round here, because we'll drown them in all the money we save. Also, they are retards, and can't figure out the UI/read/etc.
On one hand, we have the freedom and lives of millions of people. On the other hand we can help bring Twitter down. Tough choice...
For God's sake, what is so wrong about twitter? I use it daily as a webdesigner to keep up with the latest trends. Designers and developers can chat with the pros on a totally non-professional level. People can use it to communicate, such as these Iranians have been doing before being "filtered" (censored). I just think it's really sad how people are having their rights abused and downright taken away from them, and all you can think about is how supposedly bad Twitter is. Get a grip, please.
Heh, maybe the reason why they are deploying robots is so they can kill a few people they don't like and then call the "it was an accident/technical error" card.
I hate this world.
Yes, when a standards compliant browser becomes leader in the market, web developers will have a permanent smile on their faces, as they will no longer need to cry as a result of IE rendering issues.
In other news, my entire school STILL uses IE6. It is coming up for 9 years old, aint it? >:(
I think you'll find being us Apple maniacs are not part of a cult - it's a bonified religion. We even have our own celebrity center! Heck - Tom cruise is even an apple maniac. Beat that, non-believers.
I totally agree, but that means that even with all those things that could be making the number even smaller that the actual number (that doesn't exist as it's pretty much impossible to track every single linux installation), then the linux usage share in whatever market is at least 1%. So no matter how unreliable the information is, it's still good:)
Is my thought process correct, or is there something I have missed?
I use another ISP that buys their bandwidth from a wholesaler called entanet. They are in bed with the RIAA and MPAA, but they give massive bandwidth, and do not block any ports or filter p2p.
I LOVE Virtualbox. I upgraded it just yesterday when I (clean) upgraded my system from Ubuntu Intrepid to Jaunty Beta. I installed virtualbox, copied the old config directory, it said "virtualbox has detected some old images blah blah blah, do you want to upgrade the files", I clicked yes, in less than a second I was running the image. Job done.
So as you can see, Virtualbox seems to be very good at ensuring that the images will still work even after an upgrade.
There is an ancient Greek word "sarkazo" which literally means "to tear flesh". I was using this word to bring forward my own opinion in a less aggressive way.
Wikipedia (god bless) states here that understanding in subtle sarcasm are known to be lacking in "in people with brain damage, dementia and autism, and this perception has been located by MRI in the right parahippocampal gyrus."
My point? You are lacking in the right parahippocampal gyrus, my friend.
I love valve, they are making something free for the PC users! Woo! I sound so retarded, but i just want first post :P

And what are they doing? Shell are trying to diversify by buying up new technologies.

so true. Welcome to the real world as Orwell imagined it :|
I know this is a bit offtopic to this article, but there is a dianetics advert on slashdot! What the hell is going on guys!?!? Get rid of it!
Britain enjoy raping it's citizens of their privacy. Take a look at the echelon project, for example.

Nothing happened. They took the money, said thank you, and were never heard from again.

That's called "collusion", when the government isn't involved.
That's called "illusion", when the government isn't involved.
There, fixed that for you.
Or paid YOU to fix it :P

The reason why it's failing is because you're not logged in as root - apt-get needs root access, my friend ;)
Finally, Apple has developed a profitable way of making mass murder fun!
Oh wait...
says anonymous coward - the most notorious pirate on the internets!
