Wow, nice dream world you live in. If "congress critters" actually did that then nothing would get passed.... though that might not be so bad:P
Actually, it would force Congress to write less complex laws (without a cornucopia of unrelated amendments). And, in the end, the only laws which would get passed would be the ones which the most number of different people (and states) agree on. The few surviving Federal laws would be simple enough that every citizen could understand.
Yeah, what do the hardware engineers know who designed and tested the servers? Microsoft's software engineers can show them what the servers are really capable of, without even testing them out for all four seasons./sarcasm
Like the GOP staff that used an exploit to read their oppositions email?
Exploit? You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it does?
The memos were hosted on a publicly searchable shared folder...that would be like putting up a web page for Google to search and complaining that the opposition read your page.
The GOP staff should have informed them of the loose security!
He used publicly available information to fool Yahoo's password recovery tool to give it up.
Huh? The system worked as designed; he didn't "fool" anything.
Think about that for a second. So causing a buffer overflow is not "fooling" the OS to run arbitrary code...it's just the "system work[ing] as designed"?
If this happened to someone besides Palin, would you have the same opinion?
I enjoy history more than most, but just because an ancient said something doesn't make it right...maybe that because I'm more of a rationalist rather than an empiricist like Aristotle (and the author of TFA).
Not counting a couple of exceptions, bullets tend to travel faster than the speed of sound. By the time your soldier had anything to hear, he would already be dead. This is why people say, "You never hear the one that gets you."
He could have heard the solder positioning to take the shot...which is probably why the GP said "hears something" as opposed to "hears a gunshot."
That is what Ahnold meant when he said the budget is inherently broken. Fixing it is proving impossible. No one is willing to cut even one dollar from anything. I'd like to see a (state) Constitutional amendment that penalizes the members of the assembly by not paying them for the periods when we don't have a budget.
The US border guards are on par with some of the worst that I've seen on the east-west German and Polish borders when the Iron Curtain was still firmly in place.
Earlier this year I traveled to Europe, and, from all the hyped stories I read on Slashdot, I was _not_ looking forward to going through border security on the return...however, the toughest security I encountered was a bomb sniffing beagle.
The worst "harassment incident" was a guard who asked me what my career-field was and then waved me on.
in my case I wasn't interested in buying it from the trailer so I downloaded the demo...looked good, but still not interested in buying the game (maybe a rental).
The X-Wing/Tie-Fighter series deserve a good remake, but looking at the Force Unleashed with its backwards-holding lightsaber, I'm concerned that the nextgen X-Wing game will have lowrider B-Wings and pimped out Tie Interceptors
Plus "driving them into" a kill zone never works as it requires having an army large enough to "drive" the enemies army while having a defense strong enough to kill the enemies army...way too much resources
The biggest problem was the Win/OS2 holodeck that allowed vendors to say they supported OS/2 without having to write a native port. Using Wine as a substitute for native ports (as others here have suggested) would continue that same flawed strategy that only works if there is already a large portfolio of native software.
Considering that wine is not an emulator, I wonder about that statement.
Microsoft programs are not the most efficient and so it seems possible that programs written for windows could run more efficiently in future versions of wine compared to future versions of windows, as wine reaches critical mass.
Plus wine benefits from all the optimizations constantly done to Linux internals, whereas look at how games run slower in the newer Vista than XP.
Everyone has an agenda. Just because people work for a news agency doesn't mean they don't have an agenda. I am thankful to have NBC on one extreme and FOX on another. Competition is great! Freedom is great!
her strong libertarian views means she would leave it up to states and local regions to decide what they teach.
While IANAL, it is great to see a group holding local government accountable! How many people on Slashdot (who are more knowledgeable than the average citizen) can name their state senators?
I wouldn't run Exchange 2007, so I cannot speak from experience.
it is an option...I'm just saying.

I would hope that the punishment would be the same as would be handed out to someone that hacked my hotmail count.
The enormous amount of spam in your inbox is punishment enough for anyone cracking your hotmail account.
er... eloped after college. They *met* in high school.
I guess that rules Tatarize out as possibly involved...

Aristotle says the virtues are always midpoints between extremes, and the extremes are vices.
Aristotle also said there were 5 core elements in the universe (fire, earth, air, water, aether) and they all had their own place in the universe (fire rises, etc): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aristotle#The_five_elements

only these idiots are running round thinking knives are cool, changing uk to www seams a bit above them tbfh
Sounds like underestimating criminals is a big problem in the UK.

Unfortunately, the Californian populace is too busy watching Reality Television to actually get out and vote for the Governator's policies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_special_election,_2005#Proposition_76:_State_Spending_Limits On the other hand, all the unions that control California did get out and voted "no."
I read the books in Oblivion...
How long before I can run it on my Playstation?
only boobs will keep this girl off government assistance.
so, what now only boobs vote for small government?

Can we look forward to a Net with all the offensive stuff removed, or else?
because Internet == tax-funded library?
Has anyone RTFA?
