There's no 2 year contract where I live. Also, you can get broadband for $30/month.
Or, you can get dialup ($10/month) which requires a phone line you might not already have ($30/month).
A fifth of our company are programmers (~20/100) and we do nothing but Linux and web-based work.
Looking at that and usage of things like Python out there (Google, CCP, Nasa, Maya, Reddit) I think you'd better back up that 'purely from a job perspective' comment!
Who stands more to lose: Apple because AT&T is running another phone in addition to the iPhone, or AT&T because Apple decides to let other carriers have the iPhone.
The thing that made me quit Eve after years of playing was this: ships are big and their graphics have window-like bright spots on them....
Really? This is what made you quit?
I've been playing for a while now. There definitely -are- reasons to stop playing. I've taken breaks (one or two months) because there weren't many fleet ops going on and I've seen others leave entirely for numerous reasons (getting blown up in a ship they'd spent weeks saving up for). But...
Seriously? If the lack of storyline verbage really bothered you that much, why didn't you just go read EVE Chronicles?
"Safe" production data should be in a SAN environment anyways. RAID 5 on top of RAID 10 with nightly replays/screenshots and multi-tiered read/writes over an array of disks.
Right now no one will revise the law, but we must 'Protect the children!' but it seems that more and more the ones being caught in these laws aren't the ones we care about.
Right now there is no difference (to you, the one that reads the 'sex offender list' when someone moves onto your block) between the creepy older man that molested dozens of children and the 18 year old that had a 17 year old boyfriend/girlfriend in High School.
How about the 16 year old couple that got child pornography charges for keeping private photos of each other?
How about the 15 year old girl that could be forced to register as a sex offender for the next 20 years?
Yes, those dangerously disturbed should be kept away from the innocent, but you really want this kind of signal to noise? Do you really want your law enforcement to waste their time arresting High Schoolers with like-aged significant others?
In the near future, this is going to be critical. Forget the "We're running out of oil" crisis. We're running out of zinc.
Zinc is the fourth most commonly used metal in the world (behind iron, copper and aluminum) and the twenty-third most common metal in the Earth's crust.
At our current rate of 'consumption', the Earth's crust will be depleted of zinc around the year 2037.
This is huge.
So yes, maybe it's time we start mining the landfills.

If the ad itself is being talked about, then it has been successful on some level.
...
I mean an ad that consisted of a long, detailed and graphic discussion between Gates and Ballmer as to their preferred methods for torturing and maiming kittens would probably get talked about; I'm not sure such an ad could be considered as positive for Microsoft.
...
They do say, there's no such thing as bad publicity.
Think about it. Think of the occasional commercial that comes on that you HATE. I mean, you jump up to change the channel every time it comes on. The very fact that you feel that strongly about it means that the next time you're thinking about that industry, their company will be at the top of your mind.
Maybe your negative opinion of their commercial will dissuade you from buying their product. Maybe. Most likely not. But if they'd played a commercial that blended in and you didn't care about? You wouldn't be thinking about them at all.
Seriously? Previous two parents get +1 Funny but this guy gets -1 Offtopic?
Is there really a/.er that didn't get the reference, but didn't touch the first two because they'd already been +modded?
So what you're really saying is...

Whaaaa? Assuming whatever you want about the poster (who knows, maybe he is an asshole?) that doesn't make his story any less valid, if true.
This seems Horribly familiar.
This is VERY old news. It's even been on Slashdot several times before (the 'iTunes' EULA came up at least twice, which has the same clauses).
binspam, dupe, slownewsday AND old news.
There's something appropriate about your username being 'InsaneProcessor'. I'm sure I'll figure it out.
I wish I had mod points today. Mod parent up.
We've gotta wipe the system, man. Give everyone a blank slate!

I honestly don't expect Apple to care too much.
Who stands more to lose: Apple because AT&T is running another phone in addition to the iPhone, or AT&T because Apple decides to let other carriers have the iPhone.
Which gives Apple the bigger market share?

Obama would sit back and probably give them part of Canada, too, just to appease them.
Interesting that you think the US has any say in that.
And no one has a better resume than Cheney...

The same would have been said for segregation, women's suffrage and other civil rights, back in the day.
