Agreed. The RIAA should be allowed to break the law and use illegal practices to bring all those horrible copyright infringer's to swift and brutal justice. The RIAA's clients are literally losing TRILLIONS of dollars to people who are worse than terrorists. Personally I think RIAA should be able to hire mercenaries to rid the earth of such scum.
I know the day will arrive when I have to convert my little supercharged 347 to an electric motor.
Hopefully by then there will be companies who offerr conversion kits so instead of dumping millions of cars into junk yards we can continue to run them more eco-friendly.
I've got two old dual Pentium Xeon boxes. One is running linux and the other XP.
I figured out how to have the processors clock down to 400mhz when idle on the linux box but can't find any tools for windows. I honestly don't know if this actually saves power or lowers the temps of the cpu's (I guess if I got a temp monitoring utility I could check).
I'd like to find a way to do this in windows but every tool I've found has been for the intel core duo or newer processors.:\
The glitch that caused a Soyuz space capsule to come to Earth more than 300 miles from its intended landing point early this month has still not been identified, Russian officials said today.
The head of a panel that investigated the off-course landing said at a news conference that although the exact flaw was not known, its chances of recurring were small and future Soyuz passengers would be at no extra risk.

I wonder if they've upgraded the chances of recurring.
In principle, putting self-contained pieces of kit with seeds and nutrients on the Moon and giving them a supply of water and an artificial atmosphere would be little different from growing them on space stations, which has been done several times; although outside Earth's protective magnetic field they would be subject to higher levels of radiation.
I wonder how they plan to protect against the higher levels of radiation.
sales tax, income tax, property tax... blah blah blah
I understand the government needs money in order to function but I for one would rather just pay a flat tax and be allowed to portion out where it gets sent. Our government can't seem to balance the budget so at least I could choose how and where they blow my money.
"with the tentative construction date set for 2020, after the ISS is scheduled for decommissioning"
Is it even going to be finished being put together by then?
As someone who really enjoys their car and would hate to see it stolen, I'm all for others helping me catch the thief before they either wreck it or chop it.
Sure there are lines that people shouldn't cross but I'd rather see people doing something proactive rather than sitting by and watching a crime unfold.
The person who marked it a troll is actually a buddy I've known for about 18 years. He's just trying to get back at me for an aim conversation we had earlier when I made fun of him for the non funny web comic links he sends me daily.:P
Please explain to me how the mars rovers have improved the lives of billions of people. Sure it's neat that we have the technology to go explore planets but honestly, you and I will never go there. It's great that we're contemplating colonizing planets but really we should be focusing on their problems we face on our own planet.
Maybe it's just me but I'd rather see the quality of life improve for millions of people rather than look at another boring shot of a red rocky destitute landscape. I could just drive to Utah if I was that needy.
Well I for am *install linux* shocked to *install linux* see this kind of *install linux* article on *install linux* slashdot. Look at the thousands of upset customers... wait.. hundreds... er tens?
Of course the majority of reports you'll hear about SP1 is its problems and not successes. People only seem to bitch when something doesn't work and they don't say much when it does work right.
They don't need UAV's for those. Local news sources work just fine.

It'll be the greatest comedy of all time.
I bet he could make a neater looking explosion without the use of a super computer. It'd even have audio!

It was nice of them to give you permission to post here. What was it like filling out the paperwork to get that "privilege"?
With the Bush administration you are guaranteed it's from both column A and column B.

When I was a kid we were lucky to have the monochrome Crayola box. You kids and your fancy 65 colors.
What color is that?

In that case you could have informed one of those news "investigative" reporters to look into it. They would've made something happen.

From Gordon Freeman. If you happen to see Alyx get one from her too.
