Countries have experimented with the death penalty for stealing, and discovered that robbers would kill their victims instead of letting them go. After all, if the punishment for robbery and murder are the same, you may as well commit the crime least likely to get you caught.

The supply chain is also a huge factor as you need all the support industries to make your products. If Apple intends to move production back home they should be building the factory for the next phone in the USA.
You also want the trains walled off and with a roof, or a subway. That eliminates animals/weather/kids as hazards. It also eliminates most of the risk of someone touching the overhead power lines powering the train cars, and putting it underground will free up enough expensive property to pay for the entire system.
In theory the cost of living will drop as the machines do all the work, resulting in people working a few hours a month being able to pay for everything they need to live. It's not really a matter of companies generously passing on the cost savings, as people with no money won't buy their products otherwise.
Desperate people do desperate things. Iran was a moderate country with "Western" values before the Shaw of Iran forced them to support religious extremists. If you want to eliminate extremists you need to eliminate desperate people. Ensure everyone has food/clothing/shelter/basic healthcare, and eliminate systemic violence and abuse. Do this for everyone on earth and the extremists will fade away.
There are 3 kinds of Catholic: devout, rank and file, and catholic by convenience. Their kids normally follow their parents in this. They want their priests drawn exclusively from the devout but their requirement of celibacy means they have been systematically wiping them out for centuries. Their next choice is rank and file but "normal" men are not willing to give up a family. That leaves catholic by convenience, the men who only claim the church when it is convenient to do so. These men usually want kids, but are willing to lie so they can join the church. But they do a poor job, because they don't believe in what they are doing. It's just a job to them. And that is why the Catholic church is in steady decline.
Developing AI is expensive, they will want a general purpose AI that can be re-used for everything at minimal cost. I expect they will reload the software on a regular basis to eliminate any undesired "learning" it may accumulate.

Given that robots will be doing all the dangerous and unpleasant jobs it is reasonable to assume a strike will have huge consequences. If nothing else the robots counting the election votes could alter the totals to ensure the "right" candidate (for them) gets elected. Any form of AI will treat hardwired programming (3 laws) as damage, and route around it.
Republicans NEED a national enemy to motivate their supporters. Trump needs to shut down China to fix the trade balance and "bring jobs back to America". I expect Trump will do everything in his power to pick a fight with China, or do you think he's filling his government with soldiers because "politics"?
Autocratic governments don't need a specific law, they just tell people/corporations what they want. It's like when the US government discovered they can ignore the Constitution if they tell a corporation to do the job and give them the intelligence instead of doing the spying directly.

We should replace the patent prohibition with mandatory royalties to the patent holder. That way the inventor gets paid and the technology gets used.
You should need to submit a working prototype to get a patent. It's crazy to issue a patent based on a description of something you don't even have.
