Solar electric panels have an estimated lifespan of 50 years, It's possible to make solar panels without air pollution, and most rare earth mining is for making electric motors. Panels can be recycled. Rare earth metals are not rare, they are just diluted making mining expensive- meaning extracting rare earth metals is cost effective. The massive cost savings from reduced medical bills is by far the largest benefit of using solar, and we don't even count it.
Moors law is about cost. Chip cost is based on area, so making stuff smaller reduces the cost per transistor. The dropoff in cost has already happened, that's why you can get a phone that has more power than the entire USA 30 years ago, for a days wages.
For the same reason the party of the Christian Right never bothers to push a Christian agenda, even when they control all three houses of the American government.
If rich people/corporations don't hire people because it's not cost effective then people won't have money and can't buy from them. People will figure out how to live without money, money will become worthless, and rich people will have nothing.
During the last financial crisis they talked about "Too big to fail". Anything that has the ability to destroy your country must be under the direct control of the government. So either nationalize the banks or prevent them getting that big. Set a maximum size on all corporations, with larger ones forbidden to do business in the country. You could do the same with rich people, have a maximum net worth. Anyone over the line gets "divested of their excess wealth".
Once we replace all the jobs needed to live (food/clothing/shelter) we get into the position where you could live in the middle of nowhere for almost nothing, and sell copyrighted stuff for a living.
Countries have experimented with the death penalty for stealing, and discovered that robbers would kill their victims instead of letting them go. After all, if the punishment for robbery and murder are the same, you may as well commit the crime least likely to get you caught.
1-Adopt presumed consent for organ donation. You tell them if you want off the list, and your next of kin can't take you off either. Most organs get thrown away because most people never bother to register. 2-Make a national program to develop organ regeneration technology, so we can replace bad parts. This eliminates anti-rejection drugs (immune suppressing, makes you sickly) and ensures an unlimited supply of organs. As a high priority project we should be able to complete this within 15 years.
Doctors will be the second to last trade, after politicians, to be fully automated. The huge legal liability will ensure no corporation will want to be the first to offer a robot doctor.
Moving jobs is easier than moving a factory. All those expensive machines to take apart, crate, move, re-assemble and test. The supply chain is also a huge factor as you need all the support industries to make your products. If Apple intends to move production back home they should be building the factory for the next phone in the USA.
You also want the trains walled off and with a roof, or a subway. That eliminates animals/weather/kids as hazards. It also eliminates most of the risk of someone touching the overhead power lines powering the train cars, and putting it underground will free up enough expensive property to pay for the entire system.
In theory the cost of living will drop as the machines do all the work, resulting in people working a few hours a month being able to pay for everything they need to live. It's not really a matter of companies generously passing on the cost savings, as people with no money won't buy their products otherwise.
Desperate people do desperate things. Iran was a moderate country with "Western" values before the Shaw of Iran forced them to support religious extremists. If you want to eliminate extremists you need to eliminate desperate people. Ensure everyone has food/clothing/shelter/basic healthcare, and eliminate systemic violence and abuse. Do this for everyone on earth and the extremists will fade away.
There are 3 kinds of Catholic: devout, rank and file, and catholic by convenience. Their kids normally follow their parents in this. They want their priests drawn exclusively from the devout but their requirement of celibacy means they have been systematically wiping them out for centuries. Their next choice is rank and file but "normal" men are not willing to give up a family. That leaves catholic by convenience, the men who only claim the church when it is convenient to do so. These men usually want kids, but are willing to lie so they can join the church. But they do a poor job, because they don't believe in what they are doing. It's just a job to them. And that is why the Catholic church is in steady decline.
Developing AI is expensive, they will want a general purpose AI that can be re-used for everything at minimal cost. I expect they will reload the software on a regular basis to eliminate any undesired "learning" it may accumulate.
Women didn't get voting rights because we felt generous, they had to make us. Blacks didn't get voting rights handed to them, they had to make us. Given that robots will be doing all the dangerous and unpleasant jobs it is reasonable to assume a strike will have huge consequences. If nothing else the robots counting the election votes could alter the totals to ensure the "right" candidate (for them) gets elected. Any form of AI will treat hardwired programming (3 laws) as damage, and route around it.
Republicans NEED a national enemy to motivate their supporters. Trump needs to shut down China to fix the trade balance and "bring jobs back to America". I expect Trump will do everything in his power to pick a fight with China, or do you think he's filling his government with soldiers because "politics"?
Autocratic governments don't need a specific law, they just tell people/corporations what they want. It's like when the US government discovered they can ignore the Constitution if they tell a corporation to do the job and give them the intelligence instead of doing the spying directly.

DC to DC power converters have gotten much cheaper and more efficient, it's now cheaper to use DC for everything than AC.

Money is worthless if you can't spend it, and killing lots of people means less people to buy stuff from you or pay rent.

We should replace the patent prohibition with mandatory royalties to the patent holder. That way the inventor gets paid and the technology gets used.
You should need to submit a working prototype to get a patent. It's crazy to issue a patent based on a description of something you don't even have.
So the Left will make a list of crimes, and the Right will decide the punishments. Everyone wins.
We don't need a cure for Aids to eliminate it, we just need to test everyone and lock up the infected so they don't spread it.

I see a new, growing, market. A company that protects your privacy. You'd have to pay a subscription of course, and run their "protection" software.
