When Japan was recovering from WW2 they had no quality control and everything was garbage. But by selling the cheapest garbage they got the opportunity to learn and improve, until they became known for selling the best quality stuff. China is working along the same path, and India will be next after China becomes too expensive.
Civilian ships are not allowed to carry guns. There are legal limits to sailing armed ships through the waters (200 mile limit) of other countries. This is the excuse China uses to complain about American warships sailing past their fabricated islands in the South China Sea.
The advertisers are an excellent source of surveillance data. They are already spying on everyone and they already analyze it for meaning. This has nothing to do with money, the government has an unlimited source (you).
Hydrogen is a terrible energy source. The gas has very low energy density (big gas tank), compressing it takes a lot of energy, and it leaks through holding tanks. The money that is being wasted on the hydrogen economy should be directed into broadcast energy or putting power rails into the roads.
If they can be forced to help unlock a phone after the terror attack, then why can't they be forced to install spy programs on a known terrorist phone before the attack?
Trump was able to fail in business over and over again because his friends supported him. It is reasonable to believe he'll pay back that debt while in office.
And most of those deaths are from poor quality control due to lack of government oversight on an illegal product. And traffic accidents actually do kill over 1 million per year but politicians ignore that. Great conspiracy theory, map the drug use by demographic and you find the drug of choice for "socially undesirable" racial groups perfectly aligns with American drug laws.
We don't need perfect security, just good enough to make the barrier to entry for government that they will only spy on us when they "NEED TO", instead of when they "FEEL LIKE IT".
The more technologically advanced a species is, the easier it is for a handful of crazies to wipe out the species. Insanity is linked to high intelligence, so any race with the mental ability to spread out in space will eventually self destruct. Or maybe the first galactic civilization doesn't like competition.
Or a peer to peer network of lights in the house, with a link to the outside world. You could use your porch light to link to surrounding houses and eliminate the ISP entirely (and the speed bottleneck).
If it's possible to update the security code, then it's possible for the NSA to steal Apples signing code and make their own updated software. Or for China to do so.
What will it take before the major cellphone makers lock down phones so it's physically impossible to get the data off them? It will definitely require secure hardware, with the lockscreen and passcode implemented by that hardware so there is no possible way to update the security code, ever.
Most houses have lighting in them, and most new lights are LED based. Just integrate this into the lighting system and you've got gigabit internet in every room of your house. Add filters to the windows to block it (and solar interference) and you've got a nice private high speed wireless connection.
They want the power to order ANY phone maker to decode ANY encrypted phone. That would discourage phone makers from putting good crypto on the phones they sell, and bypass the need to change the laws.
The pin you type in is used to decode an encryption key inside an IC, that they (hopefully) can't copy. If they can access that key to back up the data then they can decode the phone memory directly.
The FBI isn't asking Apple to unlock the phone, they are asking for Apple to make a universal key that will unlock any Apple Cellphone, and give it to the FBI.
Ancient Rome found that giving the people bread and circuses, along with having a strong military, was sufficient to keep them from revolting. They managed to drive the Roman empire into the ground without the public objecting. Of course the "Right" people got very rich along the way, as they guided the collapse.

You've got it backwards. They are already doing this, but want to legalize it so they can stop worrying about getting arrested.
In their defense, that would stop them from breaking the law.

You'd be attacking the wrong government. Your government is the one that is supposed to protect your privacy. If it doesn't then replace it.
If unlocking your phone is done by the OS, and Apple can update your OS without your consent, then they can always unlock your phone.
If they can be forced to help unlock a phone after the terror attack, then why can't they be forced to install spy programs on a known terrorist phone before the attack?
The US supreme court added it in. (really).

NASA's current plan is to spread the Pork around the USA so Merican Congress Critters get re-elected.

Given that the Government is a bigger threat to your life/safety/security than the Terrorists, i'd say it's a worthwhile risk.

If he can win enough before that line is crossed he'll win the lot.
