Interestingly though, before Valve adapted that stupid 1USD=1EUR-policy, buying games over Steam was actually quite a bit cheaper than buying it in the store (I'm living in Austria atm and from what I've heard, the situation is similarly bad to how it is in Germany). Before they did, you could easily buy games to USD prices (which sometimes are about half of what you pay in Europe). I still use Steam nowadays to buy most of my games though - importing them takes too long, buying crappy German versions (I'm bilingual and also like to play games uncensored - most games sold in Austria are German versions, which often have had their content censored -, thus I prefer the US version of a game; I also prefer to avoid DRM, even though Steam is a form of DRM as well, at least it doesn't mess up my system like StarForce or SecuRom do) in the store isn't really an option either (and DLing a game, which averagely takes about 2 hours in which I can do some work, isn't that long either).
You know, I always thought of these Nigerian scams as intelligence tests...and having someone who fails even such a basic test in a quite high office is somehow scaring me.
I agree with you that people should not be punished for their success. However, people should *not* be treated special because their relatives worked hard. People should be given the same chance to succeed but also the same chance to fail, purely based on their abilities but not on their family. Disclaimer: I'm a neoliberal and usually oppose govt interference in economies.
The most funny thing about it is that if he had made a (maybe slightly offensive) joke about Bush, he'd got a +5 funny. Don't take me wrong, I don't like Bush either, but it's kinda strange that here on Slashdot, some people seem to look at Obama as if he was some kind of legendary savior and that insulting him is either racism, heresy, fascist talk or other bad form...
It does not. All he says is that people who infect *themselves* through their own *choices* should not be given state funding which could be spent in a much better way. If you want a truly free society, you have to be free to succeed, but also free to fail. If someone else forces you to fail, that's a completely different issue.
But we *should*. I'm quite sure science can greatly benefit from this, and it's not like this experiment is destroying something. It's just creating something; maybe something that can't really expect living like a proper human being, but on the other hand, there are a lot of humans opposing screening out and aborting children with severe birth defects, and I fail to see why creating hybrid beings is less acceptable than opposing said things.
I think someone here has to look up the definition of "troll"...just because you disagree does not mean somebody's a troll *eyeroll*. Oh, and feel free to cue the "Are you New Here" jokes...
Combo breaker!
At least we Atheists can also just laugh at a joke making fun of us instead of screaming how evil you Christians/Jews/etc are.
Bad idea - it would just make people scream "Racism!!!1".
But how do we make the sharks fly?
Of course they are connected with each other - after all, there's a good reason to why we call a certain organization MAFIAA...

...uh. Wait. Redundant? Obvious maybe, but not redundant, pal. But hey, it's the /. moderation system, so what did I expect...
*whoooooosh*

How can you kill something that isn't self aware and probably hasn't even got a brain?
WWWDWA.

And what do we learn from this? Avoid releasing Software too early.
I think Britney Spears should be thrown in jail.

NSA hackers don't, but USAF hackers do. The Air Force has it's own "Cyber Command". There even has been an article on /. about that some time ago iirc.

Hey, I'm a grammar nazi too, but only on German forums. But eek, you're right, lose != loose, thanks for pointing it out to me.
Crap. You just made me loose the game.
No, the kid who shot people. And the people who made the kid shoot people.
Even if you are clinically immortal, you WILL die eventually. It's just a matter of time. As sad as it is, you cannot cheat eternity.

Actually, I'd be very, very glad if someone did that movie. Just imagine how well suited it is for a good old MST session.
