NOTE: I'm not saying this will happen tomorrow, but extrapolating the current state of botnets relative to the current state of other systems leads me to believe, on a relative basis, systems may be complex relative to one another as they are today. If that is the case, well... that would be bad.

Are you saying that the true, skynet T-1000 will infact be RoleCKS (tm) clad and sporting a gigantic boner that won't quit?

Yeah but they don't have to physically ship pixels when they change money. Pixels are heavy, bytes are dense.. it's a complicated system of pipes and transmission lines.

Reality is, most IE users have no idea there is a flaw and no idea there is a patch. So the lack of in browswer auto download basically means that nothing has been achieved for "most" of their user base.

One thing I do notice about the less savvy users is that they do mostly trust windows update.

Exactly. The most stringent DRM and basically, the least complained about form, too. It's a very smart setup and I don't think if I were a game maker, I'd be making anything less than a network emphasised game.

  8. Lame half baked article with sliding premise on How Apple Could Survive Without Steve Jobs · · Score: 2, Insightful

Ah yes, nothing like journalistic scummery. Begin with offensively ludicrous theory, slowly injecting more and more practicality (if tabloid, do not bother) into the scenario being portrayed until such a time that the reader has read the article, clicked on the ads on the page, finally realising that what he/she read was a whole lot of nothing.

Initially, I too, found it quite sinister experiencing the unconscious me but that subsided pretty quickly. I began recording myself (audio) because I was having a very intense paralysis/possession dream. I wanted to know whether I said/did anything during these dreams. What I discovered was shocking. In the past year I've screamed, shouted, giggled, made bizarre comments and strange sounds, hummed etc. It is constantly surprising to experience the varied pitches and vibes coming out of my mouth. I should point out, none of this occurred during a possession dream for which I am absolutely silent during.

All of this I have no memory of. Most of it I find incredibly amusing, though. Here is me SINGING whilst asleep.

Yep, I've completely failed with conveying what I meant to say. Shortsighted on my part, but my point was that the only people affected were those who want/are to be legitimate customers and that DRM didn't make people "vindictively" pursue pirate options for the kick of it.

  19. You'd have to be stupid to buy this bs on Ubisoft Testing PC Prince of Persia Without DRM · · Score: 1

This is predicated on a whole lot of nonsense. Who in their right mind thinks that DRM increases piracy. DRM has very little to do with piracy at all. It only affects the people who legitimately buy the game, not the pirates. That's the point. The amount of people who would deliberately download a game because it has DRM is so minor it's silly. Hype is the single most largest factor on whether a game is pirated and that is a double edged sword

Congratulations to Ubisoft on coming up with their publicity stunt. Hope everybody recognises this and doesn't buy their game (or play it).
