    From TFA

Even bright students with enthusiastic teachers are being compelled to "learn to the test", answering undemanding questions to satisfy the needs of league tables and national targets

I have to say, that aside from less quantifiable testing (ie essay based) the mentality of "study the test" is prevalent everywhere, even in higher education. I'm sure that if it were not, the pass rate would be attrocious and consequently, for many schools/institutions: "Goodbye tuition fees".

The article use of the pregnant woman knowing and preventing. It isn't a bad summary and the article doesn't seem to make clear.

  12. Keep it simple, stupid on 90% of Gaming Addiction Patients Not Addicted · · Score: 1

It is beyond my comprehension why people must insist on debating levels and context of addiction. The reality is, someone has a habit, which they feel is damaging their life in some way. Why is it necessary to spend so much time "defining" addiction. I drink too much coffee. Whether I drink it because it tastes good, makes me high, mentally or physically, I'm addicted to it. Why is necessary for endless studies to continually make assertions on the redefinition of addiction.

Sure, go after the root cause. But this "well, we've discovered that whilst you're prostituting yourself for wow gamecards, you're actually not addicted, you're just socially gravitated towards this experience" crap is nonsense. Who cares? Addict = harming habit. Why use one word to attempt to classify the nature of someone's addiction.

No, you should write your heart out and send it to as many people as possible. No degree in writing means anything if you can't prove you're what someone is looking for.

I personally would not hire anybody for a creative job if the main focal point of their application was a degree. That basically sends the wrong message.

The proof is in the pudding and like all games related jobs, see if you can get involved in open source projects first, so you have some direct prior work.
