Yep - pretty sure, unless things have changed again!
From the Kubuntu wiki -
"Kubuntu 8.04, the Hardy Heron, is the next release of Kubuntu, scheduled to be released towards the end of April 2008. This release will introduce the future of desktop computing by incorporating the new KDE 4 desktop as well as providing continued maintenance and support for the KDE 3.5 desktop. With the news concerning the release of the KDE 4 desktop, it was decided by Canonical that Kubuntu 8.04 would not be a Long Term Support (LTS) release."
and from the actual download page today -
"There are currently three versions of Kubuntu! Kubuntu 8.04 features the rock solid KDE 3 and is supported for 18 months (until October 2009). Kubuntu 8.04 (KDE 4 Remix) comes with the cutting edge KDE 4 Desktop. Kubuntu 6.06 LTS is our old Long Term Suport version, supported until October 2009."
I won't link directly to the messages to give the Ubuntu servers a bit of a break;) But they are easy to find (when the site isn't being hammered!)
Just to note that the Kubuntu 8.04 release is not an LTS one, because of the upcoming KDE4 apparently.
So if Long Term Support is something you really need - and you want Kubuntu - then you are still going to be using 6.06 for a while yet.
I spotted the headline and excitedly clicked to read the submission but it relates to the Dreamcast:(
What about a PC collection? Doom was - and still is - a great game. Yeah, the graphics are pretty dated by todays standards, but Doom/Doom2 were gameplay at its best!
A few later games had a similar level of excitement and fun - the original Half Life for example - but most games today are simply amazing graphics and crap gameplay.
Hopefully someone will collate the various Doom wads together and offer them as one package for us "old skool" gamers on the PC.
The basic machine is $399.99, but for the Leopard install and disks it costs another $155 according to their website. Also not mentioned in the summary is the hard drive - 250GB 7200rpm SATA drive.
There are a few other options (for extra cash of course) - RAM upgrade to 4GB for $100, 2.66GHz processor for $90 etc
The site seems to have recovered from the initial onslaught of/.ers now.
Some nice screenies - KDE4.x certainly looks good. However, perhaps I am one of a minority, but I prefer my computing power to be used for something other than eye candy. I don't run Compiz (well, maybe just to impress the odd Windows user!) and removed Dolphin and the searchy thing straight away on my KDE.
Cue the good old KDE vs Gnome arguments, with the XFCE/Fluxbox brigade picking away in the background any minute now. Wonder what those who are stuck with Windows only make of all this? Personally, I run KDE on my day to day machines, with XFCE and Fluxbox on a couple of other older boxes, plus of course a command line only server. We should be grateful that we have the choice in Linux to choose rather than argue which desktop environment is teh best!
Each has its advantages and disadvantages - try them all and pick which you prefer.
What planet do you live on? Both my wife and I have the EeePC 701 (the 4GB version with the webcam built in) and we love them. Hers is pretty much as sold, with a bit of tweaking to the menus, mine runs Kubuntu 7.10. These machines, despite their low spec on paper (900MHz processor throttled back to 602MHz, 512MB ram etc) run as well as any of my other laptops when using them for what they were designed for - e.g email, surfing the web, basic word processing etc. I even play some games on mine - Wesnoth, OpenArena etc.
Plenty of folk have already installed Windows XP on theirs - usually cutting down the install with something like nLite to get it to fit sensibly on the 4GB drive. Not my thing - I don't run Windows at all, but they all seem happy enough with the performance.
As a Linux user, I am a little disappointed that Asus have gone down the Windows road, but I can't really blame them - they want to make the EeePC as popular as possible. I will be sticking with my Linux install and, when the specs of the machines have been upped sufficiently, I will treat myself to another!
How the heck is the parent a troll? The post is simply passing a comment regarding the modding comments made in an earlier post. Yes, the parent did perhaps suggest/. is Linux-centric, but hardly troll material!
Hell, I am 100% Linux here and I wasn't offended by the post.
Didn't have such things when I was at school - it was paper and pencils, ink in ink wells on your desk and learning your times tables by rote.
You youngsters don't know how lucky you were..blah blah
Now get off my lawn!
will be defined as they see fit. So we will see plenty of press about stopping p2p, but bugger all will be done about the other issues which are much more important to the community such as spam.
The usual terrorism and kiddie pr0n swoops will be paraded to the press - and rightly so - but nothing will be done to dismantle botnets or other major headaches because they are going to be less easy to detect and bring anyone to justice.
IMHO this is just another "think of the children" and "teh evil pirates" publicity gathering tool for the various governments to use as a statistic to further restrict our freedoms on the tubes.
Good job I posted this as an AC....oh,wait....
Whilst the article covers the stealing of bodies, which is pretty deplorable, there is an interesting question raised by it. Student doctors and some other trainee medical staff need to practice on deceased bodies. In the UK at least, it was possible to donate your body to science (and in the USA too I believe?). How do you go about doing this I wonder? Does the Donor Card, carried by many of us in the UK cover this as well - maybe they can't use your organs as donating material for some reason (disease, medications etc), but your body could be used for training the doctors of tomorrow? If that is the case, I would be quite happy for them to practice on me once I am dead (I take too many tablets for any of my organs to be of use), but it may not be a popular idea with some people for whatever reason (cultural, religion etc).Maybe the Donor Card needs to have an additional box - When I am dead, please use my body for training the Medical Staff of tomorrow. If enough donations were received, surely the kind of activity mentioned in the article would be stopped. I had a feeling that at one time you could specifically state that you wished to donate your body to science in the UK and, following your death, your body was handed to the students for their traning and then your remains would be cremated without any expense to your family.
I have no problem with donating my body to science - hell, they already have my right kidney, complete with huge tumour, in a jar somewhere....!
The real reason we Brits don't send people into space is because you simply cannot get a decent cup of tea there! Manufacturing Bowler Hats to fit over those helmets has proved rather tricky too.

Thanks for the link - very much appreciated.
I have a few wads, but look forward to digging through that collection!

Please mod the parent down - this is the dodgy malware linky yet again :(

I don't think our American cousins are part of the Commonwealth.

Cockles! Nope - that isn't a rude response - little sea snails in vinegar are quite popular in the UK seaside towns.
