I choose not to own a television, and highly enjoy purchasing the shows that I want to watch from your network on iTunes for my convenience, because they are commercial free, affordably priced, and the DRM restrictions, while I completely disagree with them, are at least somewhat bearable.
If you add your shows to nbc.com at a higher price, and/or with ads, and am unable to download them to watch at my convenience, you guarentee I will never watch any of your shows.
I know that I'm not the only one that has this preference.

I'm no MS fanboy, don't get me wrong, but isn't it better with a couple of service packs for big changes instead of the way Apple does it, releasing a slightly upgraded OS at full price (Cheetah, Jaguar, Panther, Tiger and now Leopard, 2001 - present)?
But for me, I actually don't mind paying Apple for those new features that make my life a little easier... like Spotlight. Video conferencing built in. Widgets, tho tending to be memory hogs, can actually be useful. Way-back machine, or whatever they're calling it in the new release. Hundred bucks? Not a bad price...
And usually my machine runs faster after upgrading (not to mention the upgrades work properly).
Microsoft is organized is a rather unique way where each product group is basically given the go-ahead to operate more-or-less independantly.
Hence the redundanancy of their API redundancy... Each Microsoft team thinks they can outdo one another, and developers get the shaft trying to figure out the differences between two similar implementations, and end user suffer peformance. Sa-weet!
Pointing at someone's balls and grabbing and twisting them and then pulling really hard is different. So if you're naked in public, expect to get at least get the finger of the children. And then there's the emporer, who's like a child, but bigger and naked. And he probably doesn't use crayons like the children who wrote the things that made him naked.
Or something like that.

In Oregon, the state legislature was actually considering limiting the highway revenue a city can garner from speed traps -- by taking a larger 'cut' of the revenue. The idea, said the guy proposing the measure, is that it would be a deterent to putting up speed traps. Riiiiight...
All because Coburg, near Eugene, is a well known speed trap.

Besides Slashdotters Gross Conceptual Errors in programming language theory, I already have my desk references, and they are written by insane, whimsical men known as Knuth and Corman. Sometimes they require use of a secret decoder ring found in select Cracker Jack boxes to figure out, but are entirely more useful than something that could be grokked online.
PHP is Object Lite -- static doesn't even work across inheritance in PHP5. We have our own architecture for PHP that we built about 6 months ago that essentially mimics ActiveRecord and provides us dynamic access in PHP. Our decision to build our latest project in RoR has been a blessing.
Ruby is a truly object oriented programming language that doesn't have the configuration overhead of writing in Java for the web (plus the ever-annoying Tomcat reboot). yaml beats the socks off of XML for configuration. Plus things are automatically included for you so don't have to edit 15 config files to get that extra method passed through to your app -- the layout of the helpers (auto included for controllers), api directory (things that are specific to this app), and lib (your toolbox you bring app to app) make it easy to find and deliver code. And you just add according to your object model -- no config'ing.
Dynamic typing + enclosures keeps you out of the headaches of trying to figure what the difference is between two otherwise similar objects in a session (like wait-- is that a Hash or a HashMap? Uhhh... screw it cast it into the session and then cast it back out...)
Plus enclosures are genuinely fun and I haven't used them in years since I was in school (SML =) So there!
And in this cor-nah, wearing tattoos of Apples, weighing in at 45 lbs., with a combined record of 6-12, are tha Macintosh Zealots.
And in this cor-nah, wearing helicopter hats, weighing in at an unknown, global weight, with an unknown record but lots of How-To's, are tha Linux Zealots.
And in that cor-nah, wearing ties, weighing in at an 800 haaaaairy lbs, is the gorilla itself, Middle Management.
