I wonder how the trains communicated with each other and the stations before the cell phone repeaters. There must have been a lot of accidental collisions due to getting off their scheduled times.
Really, who wants to carry a separate device to play mp3s? That won't help your smartphone drain its pathetic battery even faster. If you're not charging your phone all the time then it's not powerful enough, right?

The civilian (non-military non-law enforcement) market for automatic weapons is vanishingly small and requires some pretty hefty (FFL) permits and requirements.
Give a marksman a deer rifle and a high vantage point and then tell me they'll only get a passerby or two.

For full disclosure, I've only got a flip feature phone which stays at home or in the car as wanted (why bother with crappy cell phone quality when you've got a solid landline); I carry an iPod touch for my ultra mobile media needs and for the times I don't have access to WiFi, I, get this, use the internal storage on the iPod touch. There are times it'd be nice to have a data plan and a smart phone, like getting google maps on the go if I want/need to drastically alter my route, but youtube et al seems like a rather silly use of a somewhat limited resource.
