"How many people really care about how thin their tablets are?"
Anecdote time. When I got my first notebook I thought "Cool, I can take this with me anywhere!" before I tried taking it everywhere. It didn't take too long before it just sat on my desk with the occasional weekend trip.
Then each successive notebook got smaller and lighter and a repeat performance of the above happened. Even including my 2006 MBP, the thinnest and lightest notebook I've had. (Yes, I have a netbook. It was cool for a bit and then the itty bitty screen and cramped keyboard over took its size. It is small, but it weighs a ton and is rather thick (Acer Aspire One), though it feels sturdy enough to just be chucked into a bag without much care.)
Then, after having really enjoyed my iPod touch, I bought a gen 1 iPad a month or so after they came out. Guess what? It gets thrown in a bag and hauled everywhere. Plus, I don't need a table to use it or an outlet near by. (It's even taken places without a bag.)
So for me, the iPad was the first truly portable computer because of its size and weight and sturdiness.
You have to remember the/. hivemind is anarchist to the extreme, no laws (save the GPL) are valid, you can (and should) do anything you want, until you are forcibly stopped, no matter the consequences to anyone else, and self-restraint is the greatest sin imaginable (aside from violating the GPL).
I'd say that counts as notable, but I'm not a wikipedia admin.
"Some of the information is questionalbe and I cannot find it anywhere else except for the fact that the band did the Sealab theme song. It is in the show's credits as well as talked about in the commentary"
Wow, a show's own credits don't count, let alone its commentary. Go Deletionists!
The Great Webcomics Purge made sure I'd never bother contributing.
Personally, other than ease of access, I don't really care about articles that would already be in a real encyclopedia, because they're already in a real encyclopedia. What I do care about is all the minutia you can really only get from the obsessive geeks and otaku of that topic. "That's what wikia is for" people can go die in the malware infested fire that is wikia. We're not even close to peak bits, so who really cares if Pikachu and company each have their own page (other than the wikipedia is a "real" encyclopedia people)?
"How about we try a new roll playing game where everyone acts like adults and business people and resolve their differences without suing everyone and invoking copyrights, trademarks and patents?"
They were going to do one on linux zealots but they thought all their MRI machines were faulty, all that came back was beard with bits of the last month's meals and toenail clippings.
The problem is that for some people their elected representatives are behaving properly, they were sent to Washington to destroy the government (drown it in the bath tub) and they are doing just that.
When did I say my enemy's enemy was my friend? I recall saying my enemy's enemy was my enemy's enemy.
PayPal, if I don't use them, can't harm me and can only harm me as much as I am willing to let them if I do use them. When I do use them, I use them only to buy, from reputable merchants, and only for small ticket items that I wouldn't bother with contesting if something did go wrong.
LulzSec, no control over their potential damage.
LulzSec calls for a boycott of PayPal, and I do not want to support that boycott so I will not go out of my way to use PayPal but when appropriate will make it known that I used PayPal to show I don't support LulzSec.
"Why do you think the 19 century made USA the powerhouse of productivity on this planet, the government?"
Of course not, it was the (unregulated) industrial revolution with its child labor, robber barons, and Tammany Hall that made the US the powerhouse of productivity.
"How many coffee makers have been hacked to run FreeBSD?"
I, for one, am quite happy with the default OS of my iBrik.

"Geeks care about better hardware"
Actually, I'd say they care more about better bullet points.
You might want to look up anarchist again.
And that is why we can't have nice things.

I could've sworn that all the 3E campaigns I was in had a GM, perhaps I failed my roll to disbelieve.
"How about we try a new roll playing game where everyone acts like adults and business people and resolve their differences without suing everyone and invoking copyrights, trademarks and patents?"
I'm sure there is a GURPS book for that.
Pay for a dedicated line and you'll get a dedicated line just don't expect it to be as cheap as the non-dedicated lines.

So the libertopias of Africa are your idea of what rural life should/would be like?
And if they hadn't pushed electricity out to the rural areas we'd have cold fusion by now.
So, that free market would get a dial tone out to the never-going-to-be-profitable like the failed government monopolies did?
"the 3ds just plays games that cost $30 and up"
That's like saying a fillet knife just fillets fish while your ax can cut wood and fish and thus is superior.
Once humanity is extinct I bet no one will be complaining about it, so taxes are worse.
Perhaps they need to form a line for the restroom?

Ahh, you're one of those "you're either with us or against us" types. Please don't get into any of the diplomatic services. Or politics.
If only it wasn't a one shot deal, then there'd be time to sort things out after not committing financial suicide.
Lots of prime farmland and good hunting in those immigrant tenements.
"The enemy of your enemy, isn't necessarily your friend."
True, but the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy's enemy and sometimes that is enough.
