    I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with you. I've got several vintage systems hooked up in my hobby room and it's very nice to fire up some of my old favorite games. Besides it's a hoot seeing my Amiga 1000 boot up on my HDTV :)

    Use those also, but iTunes is bloody convenient especially for smaller artists that may not be for sale in a local store.

    I disagree...and in fact the OLPC is designed with easily user-replacable parts. I doubt you could show me a 4-5 year old laptop that a 10 year old could fix by themselves.

    Where do you get your $3k figure from? A default Mac Pro with dual Xeons, a gig of RAM, 250 GB HD and a GeForce 7300 GT is only $2,499 and there are far cheaper Mac options.

    Actually Volkswagen won't let the Beetle be used for any "violent" toy. So that explains the Camaro situation and also why no Transformer Bumblebees will ever be Beetles.

    Sigh...the Amiga :) I got rid of my A500 several years ago in a fit of insanity. Luckily I found an A1000 at a Goodwill plus a fair number of games. It seems strange to be using it on my 17" LCD TV.

    I think your experience is not typical. I've got 2 C64s (brown and white) and a C128 and all are still working well. Now if you want to talk about reliability issues...ask about the 1541 disk drives.
