OK, thanks. I think I now understand what the fear is, and I think you can rest easy. One thing I don't see is politicians being unduly influenced by poor people. What I see in reality is something quite different.
I would certainly understand that since I wasn't contributing I wouldn't be able to vote, and I would be fine with that.
Contributing what? Time? Blood? Money? Help me understand. What is it that people are not doing that you think they should be and why that should affect their ability to vote.
Since you asked, yes, I think felons should be allowed to vote. I might be convinced that they should lose that right while behind bars but certainly once they get out they should have all the rights of other citizens. And no, obviously I don't think non-citizens should be able to vote.
I have often thought it should be that way (or, similarly, if one is accepting public assistance, he/she can't vote). But, alas
That's a pretty fucked up view. Do you think you will never be in that situation? All it takes is one major health crisis to end up losing your ability to work. That's something totally beyond your control.
If what you need right now is to feel superior to other people, then I'm not about to take that crutch away from you. I do wish that you remain in good health and continue to prosper. I do hope, however, that you eventually learn a measure of compassion for people who through no fault of their own are not quite as fortunate as you.
I wonder how much this has to do with bank saving accounts and money market funds paying interest below the inflation rate. In this environment, the rational choice is to put your money elsewhere, like stocks and bonds, to avoid losing purchasing power. When surveyed, people rightly consider these investments, not savings.
In which case they are not being as irresponsible as is being reported, but rather making the rational, smart choice. Even buying stuff to stockpile now is better than leaving your money in a place where it will just decline in value.
He is still president. That's a perpetual title. He just doesn't hold office anymore, except as an emissary in potentia, and his powers are rather limited.
Barack Obama is a former president. He is not the president. He no longer has the power to pardon anyone. That's what the topic is. That's what we are discussing. Why you think posting irrelevancies is contributing to the conversation is far beyond my understanding.
I had a MRSA soft tissue infection and after antibiotics didn't work they drained the wound and cut out the surrounding tissue. I recovered very quickly after that. I consider myself very, very lucky to not have the problems some people do with it.
Your current leader thinks it's fiction (along with most of slashdot of course)...
It only seems that way. Most of us recognize the seriousness of climate change and have long since given up arguing with the very vocal minority that are spouting their denialist nonsense online. There's no point debating people who will not listen to much less have the ability to reason. Rest assured there are a great many intelligent Slashdotters out here, silently chuckling at the trolls who create strife just for fun, the paid shills, the politically motivated right wing shitposters, and the honest-to-goodness morons who are too stupid to face reality.
Let me break it to you gently, as you don't exactly appear to have your finger on the pulse of current American politics. You see, Barack Obama is not the president anymore, and so will not be pardoning anyone. He's just a citizen now.
I think it's important to get the facts straight when trolling as when you are so obviously stupid as a broken tree stump it undermines the value of an otherwise admirable troll.
My God you are abysmally and uncomprehensively stupid. Don't get me wrong, and take that in a good way. I mean to insult your intelligence as directly and as unambiguously as possible.
I suppose it's easier to blame the NSA then to blame your own company for writing shitty software.
That being said, n theory the NSA should be working for the best interests of the American public, and by not disclosing software vulnerabilities it is clear that they are not. It's a shame the biggest threat to our own cybersecurity is the US government. We are spending a lot of money and not getting a fair value for the money spent. I don't claim to understand why.
Thunderbird is the best of a bad bunch, but it hasn't improved in ten years -- and it needs improvement.
Thunderbird does everything I want and nothing I don't. The best thing they can do is leave it alone as far as I'm concerned.
What gives me the heebie-jeebies is when they say they need to "modernize the code base." If they can do it without breaking something then fine, have at it. Otherwise, leave well enough alone please.
If child pornography is so heinous that merely viewing the material is a crime, then I don't see any justification for a government agency intentionally distributing it. These are government employees, mind you, telling us that it's OK when they do it, yet a crime when you do it. That's a very dangerous position to take and all attempts to normalize this type of thinking need to be fought.
If only we could get this kind of competitive pressure to occur in the healthcare market!
This seems as good a place as any to mention that Walmart pharmacy is an excellent place to buy prescription medications. In my local Walmart the pharmacists are friendly, knowledgable, sell the exact same product as other pharmacies only at much lower prices. What's not to like?
Wu's only real "in" here, is that Lynch is considered moderate.
Well, he's considered a moderate Democrat in Massachusetts, but as he once retorted "Calling me the least liberal member from Massachusetts is like calling me the slowest Kenyan in the Boston Marathon."
Wu, on the other hand, is batshit crazy. Her prospects of unseating Representative Lynch are less likely than a moon-colonizing company destroying the city of Boston with projectile moon rocks.
We're paying, it's just the money goes to the ISPs and VPN providers, rather than RIAA and MPAA. Had the entertainment industry groups the foresight to provide inexpensive, DRM-free content free from geo-restrictions and such nonsense, they would have made a lot more money. Instead, they decided to play hardball by suing their customers and locking down content making it difficult to obtain.
The situation today is a directy result of the short-sighted greedy tactics they chose to employ. As any cowboy will tell you "Screw with the bull, you get the horn."

C'mon. You know you want to. This sounds like fun.

The amount of junk mail has become staggering.
I get lots of junk too. Like bills and collection notices. All that stuff goes unopened into trash.
One thing the Trump administration will never be accused of is too much intelligence.
A drone doesn't supply any more danger in such a situation that in ANY OTHER situation where it is flying near or over people. Period.
Maybe you haven't seen the videos on YouTube of people weaponizing drones. Like this guy who mounts a machine gun on quadcopter.
Didn't you watch The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret? You bottle the stuff and sell it as a power drink.
He is still president. That's a perpetual title. He just doesn't hold office anymore, except as an emissary in potentia, and his powers are rather limited.

At what point is amputation a viable treatment?

They have their place but they both lead to lots of confusion with poor coders who are trying to maintain very old code.
If you're using poor coders to maintain very old code then perhaps the choice of programming style is not your biggest problem.
How do you expect YT to keep the lights on if everyone just consumes the content without watching ads (or paying for Red?).
I don't care. That's their problem, not mine.
Oh, I got it. YOU want to take the content without compensating, and leech of the people that do support the site.
That's right.
Brilliant plan! As long as there are suckers like me that pay for the content, you are golden.
Thanks for the compliment and keep up the good work.
I just get off the couch and turn the thermostat up or down according to my whim and the ambient temperature. Takes a few seconds at most.

You'd think they would use a standard unit of measurement, like the kilogram, rather than genetically modified mosquitos.
A great man once said, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few".
A prominent Vulcan once said "Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." FTFY.

They got a credible report of a hostage situation - they SHOULD roll up armed.
They got a report. Was it a "credible" report? No. They dealt with the situation appropriately.
We already can watch them for free.
