Exactly my point. I would make more sence to say, maybe, have the icons there, and have the color change from grey to green (or red etc..) when the mouse is over it. That way. The user knows what it is. And they get feedback when they hover over it. Instead of the user having to "check" each one untill they find the right button.

Apple stuck it with the iMacs... and good on them. So they're trying to do the same with their new OS. And thats fine with me. But I think that they focused on the athetics just a bit too much a forgot about the UI. The can easly have it both ways. That's why I hope they make those changes.

Theft = when someone TAKES something from you... i.e. you loose something you once had. Therefore, trading mp3z is not theft because technicaly nothing was taken from anyone. Record companies are there to represent artists and to provide them with a range of services which they'd find difficult to get on their own - marketing, production, distribution and often nowadays, legal representation. Sure, they make money from doing this, but we live in a capitalist society where making money is how our economy functions.

Uh huh... What you don't seem to understand it how much money they are charging for there services, which is WAY too much.

Music artists put a lot of time and effort into producing a work of art which they then allow the general public to enjoy. That is the important point here - they allow the public to listen to. As it is their work, they decide how they want people to obtain and use said work, and anyone that believes otherwise is just condoning theft in one of its many forms

If they really cared that much about how they wanted ppl to hear there music, they wouldn't have signed up with a big record lable.

I would never bother to get the albums if i had to pay for them. I'm only a student, I can't affored to spend $1000 on music. Some might say that, that's just the way it goes, if you can't afford something, you can't have it... that might work well for say.. TVs, Computers, cars etc... An interface for a car, is for a car, having an interface for something that it is not will just create confustion for the user. It nearly as bad (if not worse) that the "real life" interfaces.. e.g., a picture of a phone for dialing software, or maybe a more well know example is the Apple Quicktime interface.

A properly designed interfase should have the most used functions at hand, and should be easly recognizable using well known icons. It should be simple and easy to use, and should have the same look and feel of the OS, unless it would be impoved otherwise (i.e. winamp would be clumsy if it used the normal win GUI).
Having some customiseation is also good as everyone has differnt ways of using things.

Although apps like MS office 2000, do have a huge amount of bloat, they still alow you to customize it easly, and revert back to the standard interface if needed.
