You forgot that it's never the managers fault. They know everything. Problems can only originate from their underlings even if they're responsible for that underling having the job in the first place.
Ultimately, aptitude, skill and talent need to become more measurable. There are too many people out there trying to make IT workers into assembly-line workers... but then again, I just called the classification "IT workers" and not "IT professionals" didn't I? Perhaps it could all start with names/titles.
IT workers / professionals covers such a large field.
Some of it will become as lowly as factory work. Factory work was once well paid too but there's less risk involved and nearly anyone can do it.
As some aspects of computing become easier and open it up to more people then wages have to drop. It's pure supply and demand and the unfortunate fact is that so many companies rely on computers that the only way to satisfy every business' needs is to train more people.
Most problems in IT can be caught out in testing. But in my experience too many companies are too lazy to test and some don't care if the person is good enough just as long as they're acceptable and will work for a lower wage.
The problem is even if they have a degree that doesn't mean squat and in fact that is one problem with the gaming sector is that most University gaming courses useless for the skills they're looking for and in stead are more or less general over views of the game development process.
The problem is a lot of universities, imo, can be lacking the necessary talent to teach properly. So using a degree as a guage of talent is pointless. More so when some only viw IT as a money pit, learn the minimum to get by and don't really care about it after that.
Technology is moving too fast unlike the doctor's and lawyer's professions. So coming up with some sort of testing to bleed money out of IT professionals as a way to inflate wages is a bit silly and will probably only lead towards more OSD.
With all this in mind and the fact the company knows exactly what it wants. So it should be able to test specifically for the skills you want and who cares if it leads to a longer interview process. You're much more likely to get a good candidate.
Carpal Tunnel is easy. Drink loads of vinegar, start making love with the other hand and let's face it typing with one hand should be second nature by now.
Sorry but you, on your own, will find a cure for AIDS which involves duct tape and a toothbrush before you get rid of the idiots that buy things from spam email.
That most of it ends up on the desk, a bit of cloth or tissue. So not only am I putting it where it should be but I may be wasting above average spunk.
I guess I'll just have to ensure it ends up in a jar to go in a freezer just in case. I'll just have to remember never to make home-made popcicles again.
This is correct and in some cases testers can get paid more than programmers because ensuring that great code goes out the door is of the utmost importance.
A lot of people will stick with IE because they don't know any better. This is why, imo, Firefox isn't number one seeing how it has way more features than IE will ever have.
So that really only leaves Google the Safari/Opera/Firefox market to eat into and Chrome just doesn't have enough support to make me give up Firefox. Plus it seems to have some performance issues.
It has potential but I think Google will just let it slowly die like a lot of their other projects.
I suspect they're afraid of taking too much focus off of search and falling behind in that market but no one has remained on top forever so they need to grow in other areas too.
I agree, Applets aren't that bad but it may take awhile to get people to forget all those horrible java applets people used to put on their ugly sites. One of my favourites at the moment is Wordle. http://wordle.net/
True but in by choosing a public free provider it's been made much easier to access the email. If some form of communications isn't secure they should try securing it or use another method rather than throwing security right out the window.
I am no fan of the Clintons but that sort of mentality is childish and what is ruining US politics.
Yeah Clinton did some shady things and his wife still does. That doesn't give Republicans the right to do. By that logic Hitler killed a ton of people in the holocaust so mass killings are ok.
There's nothing wrong with it but I can understand why people would be annoyed that things like Cancer and AIDS aren't cured yet money is being spent on things that don't matter for survival. All just that studying baldness has more benefits than people think.
I wish people would use logic when they over take people. There is absolutely no reason to over take under dangerous conditions and, unless you're on a motorway it won't actually help you.
Thrashing your car and risking everyone's lives for a few seconds will not make up for driving slowly for a few minutes. It's not hard to prove either as anyone with a GPS tracker can see how little over taking does for your over all time but the damage it can do to your engine (and maybe your life) are greater.
As far as fuel efficiency, I think maintaining a constant speed, whether it be 30 mph or 50 mph is more efficient than going up and down. Since most people usually vary their speed for things like over taking and beating red lights and they may normally drive slower than I suppose the fact their trying to be consistent, even if it's at an annoyingly slower speed, are benefiting.
Actually baldness is important. Yes most people see it from the shallow POV but being bald puts you at a higher risk of skin cancer. Sure you can always wear a hat but that's not always possible.
Also balding and testosterone levels are linked so this research could also effect that which has a greater impact on men's health so while it's very possible this came about out of shallowness in men the end result could mean much more.
It may or may not be but you're a private business that can do whatever you want.
Sarah Palin on the other hand is an employee of the the citizens of the US (some people forget this) and as such she shouldn't be hiding things from us just as it's expected that any employee shouldn't be hiding official business from their employer.
But it's not even about hiding things. Yahoo email isn't secure enough for someone who may have to be potentially passing around state security information.
Her supporters are more likely to be the type that live in fear of terrorists so why shouldn't they be applauded that she's doing something to make it easier for terrorists to find out potential information to aid in attacking her state which isn't that far fetched seeing how it's one of our resource rich states meaning that attacking it and destroying, for instance, the oil infrastructure could have a great effect on the whole nation.

Pack it up and go home, fanboy.
You rode the short bus to school didn't you?
Oh, I'm not saying their logic is correct but it wouldn't surprise me if they think that.
I'm insightful now. :D
Carpal Tunnel is easy. Drink loads of vinegar, start making love with the other hand and let's face it typing with one hand should be second nature by now.
Purely because:
A. It's cheaper
B. They think nothing runs on Linux thus they can easily stop kids from playing games, chatting etc.
It's nice they're using linux but if my assumptions are correct then that sort of mentality doesn't help in the long run.

Maybe in a tiny company but no one has the time to write a huge application and write the tests for it as well.
Being a jack of all trades doesn't work for serious large scale development.
This is correct and in some cases testers can get paid more than programmers because ensuring that great code goes out the door is of the utmost importance.
Odd, I only use FireFox but maybe I've been lucky.
A lot of people will stick with IE because they don't know any better. This is why, imo, Firefox isn't number one seeing how it has way more features than IE will ever have.

America was founded by terrorist. If you hate terrorists then you should be fighting for control of the US to go back to Britain.
True but in by choosing a public free provider it's been made much easier to access the email. If some form of communications isn't secure they should try securing it or use another method rather than throwing security right out the window.
Then one only has to look at the saved draft to her fellow governor if you're going to naive. ;)

Her state gets federal money so to be fair she is still accountable to everyone.

Duh, of course that's not her work address. Hence the reason she shouldn't have been doing business on a Yahoo account.
