One of Seam's main selling points is that the old ways are shit and that is true. Writing java for backing beans isn't exactly rocket science nor is writing the pages. So there is nothing wrong with doing things in a MVC way (you should do that with your PHP too). It's more the fact there is quite often too many configuration files and things simply are too delicate.
I can understand only have one app on a live server but a developer can expect to have more than one on his own environment and that rarely works smoothly with Java. Nor should it take a significant amount of time to transfer something from one instance to another. It shouldn't take two people scanning over multiple files to fine where things are different. It's a huge waste of time that could be spent writing code.
I quite enjoy Java and find it to be a great language. My only complaint is that they fucked up java for web sites / apps.
Why does java have to be some complicated, delicate and have 6 millions different ways to do something where as you can get on with developing something in PHP quite easily? Sure to make something great you need to know the html to go with PHP and javascript but you need to know those with java plus decide if you you are using struts, spring, seam, groovy, JSF, etc and, while knowing one may make it easier to transition into another job using something similar, it's still a pain compared to moving between PHP based development jobs.
It is true that if you wanted to know everything about Java it would be impossible. You can't know it all and be excellent at it but there should only be three clear sides to it. The desktop app side, mobile and web.
Plus the fact McCain isn't really a republican (which is why he threatened, like a little baby, to become a democrat). He's nothing more than a old fart desperate for his moment in the spotlight. People should be concerned about the fact he stands for nothing other than becoming president.
What's the point? Making a vista only app would be dumb so not even MS does that except for games and does anyone think Crysis would run anyway when it doesn't run on most PCs and who the hell wants to play Halo 2?
utorrent claims Wine compatibility and, if I recall, Notepad++ claims it as well though in NP++ case I sorta think it's an excuse to get out of porting it to Linux.
The great thing about America is you can use anything. I sued my next door neighbor's dog for keeping me awake for two nights. I won all his kibble and there is a restraining order on him.
I know of a particular DB manager who manages a shambles of a DB and a web designer who wouldn't indent her html or css if her life depended on it. Women, like men, have good and bad people in certain areas of talent and men, in general, are more likely to program so they're more likely to be better at it.
The average idiot doesn't know what a newsgroup is let alone uses one so they're going to ruin it for those of us that do simply because some people post cp in some newsgroups.
TBH, I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner since they can't place ads in newsgroup messages.
I agree and use plain text email but I would never do a report or a CV in notepad. It's only good for shorter communication because you need little things, like bold text, to make things more readable.
But obviously, most documents are still being created in ever-more convoluted proprietary formats. So this WILL get worse.
Personally, I use plain ASCII for as much as possible.
Which is why some people are trying to put an end to that with ODF and it's all well and good to use ASCII but aside from creating readme files and personal notes, that's not enough these days.
Yeah because people and companies want to have to pay someone else to convert their documents or install numerous operating systems in emulation to print a document. That's so much easier than having one format that everything supports.
It probably would be a bit better but if the US isn't going to stop MS' monopoly then the only way to put an end to that is to counter it with other monopolies.
The thing with people against Global warming is that they don't realise that it actually doesn't matter if GW exists or not. Pollution is bad for your health. car exhaust affects your brain creating stress responses that last after you're away from the fumes...perhaps even permanently.
Imo, the effects of pollution on our health is more important and most people would agree. In fact zero people would care about global warming if it didn't affect humans. The whole "save planet earth" really means save the human race which, to be fair, is a natural response.
If your pollution only affected you that is fair enough but like second-hand smoking it affects more than yourself and in fact can affect millions. So I'm not sure why the same people who can be so against smokers can be hell bent on keeping their shitty SUV. I would personally rather have smoking brought back into restaurants and pubs and get rid of all other forms of pollution because at least it's a lot easier to avoid second hand smoke.
Penn and Teller's show on the Boy Scouts was fascinating - turns out a huge chunk of the Boy Scouts is financed by the Mormon church. Mormons have real issues with other religions even Christian religions because all other Christian religions are there to deceive you from the truth and miss out on god's adventures in America.
But that's the thing it's just a poor excuse to Americanise god and make it ok to have 5 well beaten wives pumping out little drones.
Like churches as well, most do have sensible people and they don't get their panties in a bunch like the fanatics. But it's easier to lump them all together like we do with Muslims and Athiests.
They're just upset that there are better alternatives out there for free or, if something is missing, a company can add it to the open source solution without having to wait for some commercial company to get around to adding it.
I personally wouldn't use N-Brain and it's not because of an open source alternative, I simply don't like the look of their site. That is honestly enough to put me off the software completely.
I still buy updates to JCreator ( http://www.jcreator.com/ ) as it is a very good Java IDE. I use Eclipse too but mainly for EJB stuff and JCreator for plain old Java. JCreator is fast and bug free. Sometimes it just makes life easier to open it up rather than wait for Eclipse to fart about trying to load all the plugins.
I'd estimate that MAYBE one in 10,000 SUV owners have EVER used their vehicle under the off-road conditions for which it was originally designed. And even then 99% of the time they're back home shuffling kids to soccer and groceries from the store. I reckon the number of people that use an SUV properly is even smaller.
It's amazing how many soccer moms will drive around Cambridge(the UK one) in an SUV despite the fact that the roads aren't built to handle all the traffic they received let alone a bunch of SUV driving simpletons. It's a city and it's completely flat, the only purpose to an SUV is to flaunt the fact you either have money or are willing to go into debt to look like you have money.

I'm never reading email again at home or at work and then no one can expect anything from me. I can't believe no one has thought of this before.
He was one of the greats. I don't think he'll ever be replaced properly ever.
Plus the fact McCain isn't really a republican (which is why he threatened, like a little baby, to become a democrat). He's nothing more than a old fart desperate for his moment in the spotlight. People should be concerned about the fact he stands for nothing other than becoming president.

I'd rather stick to Open Office, tbh.
utorrent claims Wine compatibility and, if I recall, Notepad++ claims it as well though in NP++ case I sorta think it's an excuse to get out of porting it to Linux.
Except for the fact that if you want to keep old operating systems you should ideally keep old hardware or run an emulator.
Or, for free, use Linux, wine (not an emulator) and install it on the most advanced hardware you can afford to play your old games.
The great thing about America is you can use anything. I sued my next door neighbor's dog for keeping me awake for two nights. I won all his kibble and there is a restraining order on him.
I just wish I could get onto their site so I could download the damned thing.

I hope something is simultaneously done about their monopoly.

Agreed, teenagers should be changed to tards.

Thank god for this. Hopefully it'll be done away with completely and MS will be told where to stick it.
