iOS is also an easy platform to fix. All those android users stuck on gingerbread will be on that for the life if the device. You can hit them over and over.
Tablets aren't really that limited now and they're not consumption only devices. You can do web development, create images or 3D models among other things.
How is the 3DS weathering it? It's selling better than the DS at the same age. The only people disappointed are investors who thought it was reasonable to expect every DS owner to upgrade on launch.
I'm sure I'm not the person they want to sell to but last time looked it offered nothing for doing development. Excluding that they live in a magical world where you always have a net connection. Even in a well connected city that's not always the case. I'll stick with OS X or Linux which does everything chrome os does and more.
It would make sense not to put MS' crap in your hardware so if that's the case Sony was wise. But I think the reason for the Xbox is because all of MS' set top box and PC in the living room ideas went tits up. So rather than appealing to adults they decided to pander to children. I'm not sure would have made much of a difference in their attempt to grab control of living rooms.
Same here. I do have some games like Max Payne and GTA but purely because they were cheap. I've played all the GTA games and Max payne a total of like 15 minutes on my phone. World of Goo and Scribblenauts are ok on the phone but only just. You still have the issue of your finger getting in the way in some instances.
I prefer my 3DS. It has a fairly decent eshop and online play is like you would expect unlike that friend's code rubbish with the DS and I can play my DS games though the 3DS ones are much better. I think it's obtained the right level of graphic quality for a portable. For my work commute it's perfect and phone games are for when I'm basically stuck waiting somewhere with nothing to do to and there's nothing worth looking at on the web or no connection.
It appears not to limit title length either as someone recently busted the thread view. That's only something message boards solved well over 10 years ago.
It *might* have potential if this is an alpha product but if he considers it mostly done and that's why he's releasing it then it's DOA.
I think if you're really into something cheap and hackable for a game system then why not go all the way and get a community together to do something for a raspberry pi or something similar? But to compete with the likes of Sony, MS or Nintendo and get AAA games, it's just not going to happen on Ouya. Which is fine if people accept it's just a hobbyist item.
I think tech sites just talk it up because there's not that much to actually talk about on a day-to-day basis but this kind of thing has been tried again and again and it never goes anywhere. Most people want some easy to use that has the major titles on it.
The pandora handheld actually looks pretty sweet and would be fun to play around with but in the past two years it's sold less than 5,000 units. Even with geeks it's not that big of a thing even though it's a nice bit of hardware even if used just as portable computer.
I assume a third a third party was hired to do it and that's why they opted not to follow the theme at all and go with something completely different and didn't care enough to make it work on desktop browsers even if really it doesn't have to.
Too much JS but more importantly their demo is ugly as sin. I'm not seeing how it's that different other than making everything feel crammed together and with far too many Web 2.0 features and not enough good design to not make it feel like one big blind poo.
It does nothing to improve on the message board design and its fucking ugly. Good job, jeff!
you may be right but that implies it's a non-level playing field for devs. Yep, that'll draw people in to develop for their non/existent phone and tablet market to make apps.
Some of us didn't give the poor experience a pass and moved away from Android. More people need to do that and let google know we think it's shit.

Of course but that doesn't stop you from doing writing Python with the other app.
Considering you can do SSH which gives you access to vim, you can do anything you're happy to do in Vim. There's Pythonista too for writing Python.

So in other words for most people they do censor and in order to avoid censorship you have to increase your security risks.

Proprietary languages, lol.
It could easily be done but there are too many people who are heavily invested in JS being broken.
Static typing is for bad programmers.
Forgot to add it's mostly just nesting that's an issue on the old one.
It looks ok and viewing comments is generally better but it feels a bit busy. The old mobile site with improved comment views would be best.
Agreed, it looks like dog shit...after a homeless man ejaculated on it.
And if your real name is Alexander Hamilton?
Nice set of unenforcable stupid rules though.
Web devs must require customers to download 10 megs of JS to be a professional.

Then no one will remember it existed
The stock market seems to be full of dick heads and no talent people posing as analysts.
